LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA : Wendy Gaye filed a restraining order against her husband Marvin Gaye III on Tuesday, January 17. The domestic violence restraining order comes days after Marvin was arrested for pointing a gun at his wife and other family members.

Marvin was arrested for domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon over an incident that reportedly took place on January 12 at his home. On January 13, he turned himself in and was booked for domestic violence and assault. Marvin III is the adopted son of singer Marvin Gaye and his wife Anna Gordy Gaye.

TMZ reported that Wendy sought the court-ordered protection following the last week's altercation in Calabasas, California. The outlet had previously reported that the violence against the two women stemmed from an argument about a previous assault. Apparently, cops surrounded the home and shouted for him to come out of the property, but neighbors informed them that he had already left in his Corvette.

Who is Wendy Gaye?

Wendy Gaye is primarily known as Marvin Gaye III's wife, but the marriage has been rocky of late as the two "have had ongoing issues for a while now," according to TMZ. Reportedly, Marvin "came to the Sheriff's station the next day around 5:00 PM and turned himself in." He was booked on misdemeanor domestic violence and felony assault with a deadly weapon charge but was later released on a $50,000 bond.

The emergency protective order would mean Marvin will have to stay away from the home and family. Law enforcement officials went back to the residence and retrieved two firearms. The family's lawyer Gil Arbel said his clients are "distraught" and "intend to cooperate fully with law enforcement in pressing charges."

According to reports, officers met with Marvin's relatives and took an assault report that identified him as a suspect. It is not known if anyone was injured.
