LONDON, ENGLAND: Fans of Henry Cavill were left heartbroken when he shared the news that he won't be returning as Superman in future DC movies. Cavill took to his Instagram account on December 14 to say that he had met with James Gunn and his co-chair, Peter Safran, to discuss the future of his character in the DC Universe. Now, his fans are want him to take on the mantle of playing 007 in the 'James Bond' franchise.
“I will, after all, not be returning as Superman,” Cavill wrote, adding, “After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”

Cavill had played the role of the iconic superhero since the 2013 movie 'Man of Steel.' His most recent appearance as Superman was in a cameo in 'Black Adam'. He revealed in October that he would be returning to play Superman after leaving the lead role in the Netflix series 'The Witcher.'
The focus of Gunn's film, according to insiders who spoke to the The Hollywood Reporter, will be on the hero's formative years, when he was still disguising himself as Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent. Gunn may also direct and write the movie, according to the insiders. WarnerBros. reportedly approved Cavill's announcement that he will play Superman before Gunn and Safran started working at DC Studios on November 1. Just six days earlier, Cavill had mentioned in an interview that he was "very excited" about Gunn's hiring and that he was looking forward to playing an "enormously joyful" Superman.
The online DC community has been in shock since the news broke. Meanwhile, fans are seeking a silver lining in the problem. Ardent fans believed that now might be the ideal time for Cavill to find a new film series to join.
