'False Positive': Plot, cast and everything you need to know about Ilana Glazer and Sophia Bush's upcoming psychological horror

Following 'Broad City', Ilana Glazer has co-written and is also starring, in the horror film 'False Positive' alongside 'One Tree Hill's Sophia Bush

We spent a good amount of time mourning the end of Comedy Central’s hilariously beloved show 'Broad City', created by Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, who also star in the sitcom. But there isn’t much dismay now as barely a day later, 'One Tree Hill's Sophia Bush announced her upcoming horror collaboration with Glazer — yes, horror!

At that time, reports said that filming will commence on April 1, which has us hoping that this isn’t a prank. But now, Bush can be seen sharing a laugh with Glazer on the set of 'False Positive', in New York City on Tuesday.

To make matters more exciting, Glazer is not just acting in the film — she has co-written the script with John Lee, who is perhaps best known for co-creating 'Wonder Showzen' and 'The Heart, She Holler'. His latest project was Adult Swim’s stop-motion series 'The Shivering Truth'. He had also directed the pilot for 'Inside Amy Schumer'. Lee’s association with Glazer goes back to 'Broad City', where Lee directed several episodes of the sitcom. He is slated to direct the American horror film.

Release date

Filming for the show began on April 1, so a 2019 release could be a possibility. However, chances are that it is more likely to release in 2020.

Plot

‘False Positive’ tells the story of a husband (played by Justin Theroux) and a wife (Ilana Glazer) who look to a fertility doctor (Pierce Brosnan) to get pregnant. Several reports doing the rounds suggest that the film is based on the chilling true story of Donald Cline who got 48 unwitting women pregnant through the 1970s and 1980s with his own sperm. Cline was convicted of lying about the inseminations in December 2017. It looks like 'False Positive' is a contemporary take on the 1968 psychological horror film 'Rosemary's Baby'.

Considering how comedian and actor Jordan Peele's entry into the horror realm was a successful attempt, we can only look forward to what 'False Negative' will be.

Cast

While there is little clarity over who plays who, Pierce Brosnan, Justin Theroux, Zainab Jah, Gretchen Mol and Josh Hamilton will also star alongside Sophia and Ilana in the film.

Sophia Bush

Bush rose to fame with her role of Brooke Davis in The WB/CW drama series 'One Tree Hill'. She has also done movies such as 'John Tucker Must Die', 'The Hitcher' and 'The Narrows'.

Glazer is best-known for her role of Ilana Wexler in 'Broad City' — a role for which she was nominated twice for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
