Contains heavy spoilers for 'Fallout'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Fallout', streaming on Prime Video, presents a gripping plot set in a post-apocalyptic world, documenting a fictional journey of survivors of a nuclear exchange post World War II.
Ella Purnell appears as Lucy MacLean, who steps out of her vault for the first time in search of her father, Hank MacLean (Kyle MacLachlan).
However, during her life-threatening adventure on the earth's surface, she discovers startling secrets about her own home. In addition to unraveling her father's past, Lucy also gains insight into the true fate of her mother.
Is Rose MacLean dead in 'Fallout'?
Throughout the series, Lucy MacLean and Norm MacLean (Moises Arias) are seen living under the impression that their mother, Rose MacLean (Elle Vertes) died when they were young.
However, the first blow of suspicion happens when Norm discovers that the vault was opened by the raiders from the outside using Rose MacLean's key access.
His speculations are dismissed by Betty Pearson (Leslie Uggams) who asserts that she and Hank themselves buried Rose and her belongings after she died.
Later, in the finale episode of 'Fallout', the mystery of the fate of Rose is finally unveiled, leaving Lucy and viewers shocked.
Moldaver (Sarita Choudhury) tells Lucy that contrary to Hank's narrative, her mother didn't die. While living inside the vault, Rose speculated that rehabilitation had started on Earth. However, she was silenced by Hank.
Rose, driven by her desire to live a normal life, fled from the vault and took young Lucy and Norm with her. As she started building a new life in Shady Sands, Hank pursued her.
When Rose refused to return to the vault, Hank took away his children and dropped a huge bomb on Shady Sands, wiping out thousands of people and their dream to build a new future.
In the bombing, Rose miraculously survived. Unfortunately, she suffered tragic burns and radiation effects, transforming her into a Ghoul.
How does Lucy MacLean react upon discovering truth about her mother in 'Fallout'?
In 'Fallout' Episode 8, Rose is seen sitting beside Moldaver. Lucy believes Moldaver's story as she finds her mother's locket wrapped around the neck on the skeleton-like creature.
Despite knowing that her mother isn't dead and in fact, right in front of her eyes, Lucy is unable to project any emotions towards her.
The revelation of her father's secrets and cruel actions towards her mother has left her in a state of shock. Furthermore, she finds it difficult to connect with her mother, who appears more dead than alive.
Why does Lucy MacLean shoot Rose MacLean in 'Fallout'?
Towards the end of the series, Lucy makes a sudden decision to end her mother's suffering by shooting her.
She does this to relieve her mother, who has endured both physical and emotional scars from Hank's misdeeds.
As Hank escapes to an undisclosed location, Lucy and The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) pursue him to uncover the lingering mysteries around Vault-Tec. Lucy's intriguing journey on Earth's surface is expected to continue in another season of 'Fallout'.
'Fallout' Season 1 is now available to stream on Prime Video.
