Netflix's upcoming musical drama film 'All Together Now' might look like any young adult drama at first sight, but the trailer reveals it is a lot more than that.

Auli'i Cravalho's Amber Appleton is musically gifted. Despite her personal life is far more unstable than she lets on, Amber continues to be an optimist. The high school student aspires to attend Carnegie Mellon someday and is more than just positive that, she will turn her life around. But the trailer quickly reveals that things go downhill too fast and Amber is left feeling not only down but dejected.

It is with the support of her friends and those she holds dearest that helps her sail through these tides. Rhenzy Feliz plays Ty, one of the closest friends to Amber, who not only believes in her but also her dreams. At her lowest, Ty refuses to leave Amber by herself and shows up not only offering love but also understanding and support.

"A large part of the movie is allowing the community around you to support you," Feliz tells MEAWW (MEA WorldWide) during an exclusive interview. "some people find that really tough. I think our lead here [Amber] finds it a lot harder than most people. But it's about accepting the love that you have around you."

"Very rarely is life easy - everybody has hardships and this world's a lot easier when we let people in - it can bring light into the dark times."

Directed by Brett Haley (of 'All The Bright Places', 'Hearts Beat Loud' fame), 'All Together Now' is a heart-touching story about a young girl's struggle and how she regains her strength in dire times with the help of her friends. The movie is based on Matthew Quick's novel 'Sorta Like a Rock Star'. The incredible heart of the movie is only part of the reason that makes it an exciting upcoming watch. It stars some of the top actors in Hollywood's comedy circuit - Carol Burnett, Fred Armisen, Justina Machado, and Judy Reyes.

For Feliz, who rose to fame with his portrayal of Alex Wilder in the Hulu's 'Marvel's Runaways', the experience of working with the biggies was surreal. "Getting to the set and knowing that you're going to be sharing scenes with Fred Armisen or that Carol Burnett was going to be on set that day - it made you feel like you were doing something legit," he says.

Especially since 'All Together Now' is Feliz's first-ever movie. Previously having worked on 'Casual', 'Teen Wolf' and 'Kevin (Probably) Saves the World', the Netflix project is an exciting venture for the young actor.

It also happens to be the source of nervousness and anxiety - so much so that he can't help but feel jittery. "I've watched the movie like 72 times now trying to calm my nerves down about other people seeing it. The more and more that I watch the movie, I can see it from an outsider's perspective, not just from me having done the movie being inside it. I can dissociate myself a little bit more from it, and [each after each time], I genuinely liked the film. So although I'm nervous, I'm also excited because I do think that we made a really good movie."

'All Together Now' arrives on Netflix on August 28, 2020.
