LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After playing the good-guy for a long time, Chris Evans is currently in the phase of trying out his hands in different genres and different characters. He appeared in negative roles in 'Knives Out' and 'The Gray Man'. Evans then went on to do the animated 'Lightyear'. And now with 'Red One', Evans is set to appear in a proper holiday movie. 'Red One' is Amazon Prime Video's upcoming original Christmas movie.

'Red One' is written by Hiram Garcia and Chris Morgan and directed by Jake Kasdan. Though the plot of 'Red One' is under wraps, the upcoming holiday movie is said to be an action-adventure comedy. Evans is not the only big name to appear in the upcoming holiday movie. 'Red One' packs up a set of stellar cast members, including Dwayne Johnson, Lucy Liu, JK Simmons, Bonnie Hunt, Nick Kroll, Kristofer Hivju, Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Derek Russo.

'I can't say no to this'

During a recent conversation, Chris Evans revealed why he did a holiday movie. According to Comicbook, Evans said in all these years in the industry, he had rarely been offered a Christmas movie and when the opportunity came, he could not resist it.

""I've been in this industry for too long, but I've never seen a Christmas movie come across my lap," Evans explained. "It's never been on my radar. They happen. They're occasional. But it's never been something that's come my way. So the fact that this one popped up, I was like 'I can't say no to this. I just can't.' And Dwayne is just unbelievable. He's such a nice guy. He's incredible what he does actually, he's so funny. He's really charming and really knows. What [he] knows, he's great at it and does it really, really well. And Jake Kasdan, the director, is just fantastic and the script is really funny."

'It was a great decision'

Although Evans badly wanted to work on 'Red One', he was for a moment worried if doing the movie was going to ruin Christmas for him. But Evans eventually realised that it was one of the best decisions he made.

"I just was like, I gotta take this opportunity," Evans said. "And it was fantastic. It was one of the best working experiences I ever had. I actually was worried 'Is this gonna ruin Christmas for me?' because it's so special. 'Do I really want to see my mug every Christmas?' But I'm telling you, every day was Christmas, and when it wrapped I was like 'Aww.' Believe me, I couldn't get enough of it. So yeah, it was a great decision."

'Red One' is releasing in the 2023 Holiday Season exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
