LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: There have been persistent rumors in the air that point toward Chris Evans' Captain American aka Steve Rogers making a comeback, but the actor hasn't shown enthusiasm about picking up the shield again. Chris Evans visited Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo earlier and fans asked the burning question about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 'The Gray Man' star revealed that, although he thinks that there are many "stories to tell" about Steve Rogers, he is clearly still unsure about revisiting the character after bringing Steve's story to such a satisfying and sorrowful close in 'Avengers: Endgame.'

With Robert Downey Jr not returning to the franchise anymore, and Chris Evans thinking about never returning as Steve Rogers seems like two of our favorite superheroes have already put in the papers and are done and dusted with the superhero portrayal.

Chris Evans shared a brief explanation of his reasons behind not reprising the role of Captain America. It seems valid as he explained that playing a Marvel superhero changed his life and got him to experience some beautiful memories and shared, "It's tough, because look, I love that role deeply," he said. "He means so much to me, and I really do think there's more Steve Rogers stories tell, sure. But at the same time, I'm very, very precious with it. I'd become, you know, it's like this little shiny thing that I have that I love so much, and I just don't want to mess up in any way, and I was a part of something that was so special for the period of time and in a way, it really landed so well. As much as I'm connected to that role and love telling those stories and working with those people. It doesn't quite feel right right now," Evans said according to The Wrap.

Chris Evans is seen exploring new roles and new characters. He’s starring opposite Ana de Armas once more in the Apple TV+ action rom-com film 'Ghosted' this month, and later this year will appear in the Prime Video Christmas movie 'Red One' opposite Dwayne Johnson.

While fans are devastated that their beloved actor doesn't want to reprise his role as a superhero, some were just happy that he exploring different genres and putting himself out there. One user wrote, "In other words, Marvel isn’t offering enough money," while another user wrote, "We need you for secret wars man." While one user chimed in with, "His story ended off perfectly in Endgame, no need for a revival. Sam Wilson is now Captain America," another user chimed in rudely and wrote, "When the mortgage payment is due, he'll be back." One user made a sensible comment and said, "Marvel Phase 4 is a complete failure. Dropping the main characters that made Disney Marvel good was a serious mistake." One user made a smart comment with, "He’s right."
