'Eternal Beauty': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about Sally Hawkins's dark comedy film
Writer and Director Craig Roberts is all set to make you laugh with his upcoming film, 'Eternal Beauty', the dark comedy will hit screens on Friday, October 2. The film had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on October 8, 2019.
'Eternal Beauty' informs the viewers about schizophrenia in a darkly comic way, according to the official website of the film, "Craig Roberts’ unique screen portrayal of schizophrenia, a much-misunderstood condition was also informed by medical specialists he consulted with on the script. The reality we see through Jane’s eyes is a different vivid reality, heightened in the film by the stylized palette, camera work and intoxicating score - a reality that the film celebrates is as valid as anybody else’s and treats it with dignity, humor and affection."

The official synopsis of the film reads, "When Jane (Sally Hawkins) is dumped at the altar she has a breakdown and spirals into a chaotic world, where love (both real and imagined) and family relationships collide with both touching and humorous consequences."

Sally Hawkins
Born on April 27, 1976, Sally Cecilia Hawkins is the recipient of numerous awards for her work in the film industry. She has bagged a Golden Globe Award and the Silver Bear for Best Actress and has been nominated for two Academy Awards. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Hawkins began her career as a stage performer in productions such as 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Much Ado About Nothing', and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Her first major performance was in Mike Leigh's, 2002 film, 'All or Nothing'. She continued working with Leigh, and appeared in a supporting role in 'Vera Drake' (2004) and taking the lead role in 'Happy-Go-Lucky' (2008), for which she won several awards, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and the Silver Bear for Best Actress.
David Thewlis
Plays singer-songwriter Mike whom Sally's character meets amid her breakdown. Thewlis is most popular for his role as Professor Remus John Lupin in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) and its sequels. He has been in many other films including DragonHeart (1996), Restoration (1995), Black Beauty (1994). Recently, he starred in the third season of FX's Fargo (2014).
Billie Piper, Alice Lowe and Penelope Wilton round out the cast.

The film is written and directed by Craig Roberts and produced by Adrian Bate of Cliff Edge Pictures.'Eternal Beauty' is Roberts' second directorial feature after his debut film 'Just Jim', which was nominated for a BAFTA Cymru award. His credits as an actor also include 'Tolkien', 'Kill Your Friends', '22 Jump Street' and 'Amazon’s Red Oaks'.
