Verzuz has announced it's next rap battle and they have tapped the Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle for this one. Making an official announcement on Twitter, VERZUZ wrote, "The Master Class we’ve ALL been waiting for! @MsGladysKnight vs. @MsPattiPatti This Sunday at 5 PM PT/8PM ET. Verzuz is the brainchild of hip-hop producers Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. The last episode of Verzuz, which amassed 1.6 million viewers at its peak, was a rap battle between R&B queens Brandy and Monica that ended with their popular 1998 duet 'The Boy Is Mine'.
The rap battles that Verzuz has brought us this season has been between artists Kirk Frankiln & Fred Hammondwith, Alicia Keys & John Legend, Fabolous & JadaKiss, DMX & Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross & 2 Chainz.

The two legendary icons will go head-to-head from the Fillmore in Philadelphia on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at 5 pm Pacific (8 pm Eastern).

The two singers, both 76 years of age, were at the peak of their careers at a time when there was no Internet around. Knight and LaBelle are known for a number of iconic songs. LaBelle, who has charted on Billboard's R&B charts 43 times in her career, has performed tracks like 'If Only You Knew', 'On My Own' featuring Michael McDonald, and 'Lady Marmalade' by her group LaBelle. Knight has had a run of 64 R&B chart hits and is known for songs like 'Midnight Train to Georgia', 'Neither One of Us', 'Save the Overtime (For Me)', 'Men' and 'Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me'.
The two have also collaborated on tracks earlier like 1991's 'Superwoman' for Knight’s album 'Good Woman', and 'I Don’t Do Duets' for LaBelle’s album 'Burnin'.
