Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet engaged to nurse GF Lindsay Schweitzer
'I'm a big baby, too. She calms me — she calms my nerves,' Eric Stonestreet had previously shared about his longtime girlfriend
Actor Eric Stonestreet, who is better known to everyone as Cameron Tucker from ABC sitcom 'Modern Family', has announced his engagement with longtime girlfriend Lindsay Schweitzer. The 49-year-old actor broke the news on Instagram in his signature comedic style, writing, "She said, 'She'd have her people call my people." The post comprised three photos of the happy couple with Schweitzer showing off her ring and Eric Stonestreet at his goofy best.
The news of their engagement was flooded with congratulatory messages from the whos who of the entertainment industry including Zachary Levi, Hillary Scott, Michael Bublé, and many others. Stonestreet starred opposite Jesse Tyler Ferguson in 'Modern Family' as the perfect duo Cam and Mitch — one of the most iconic same-sex couples ever created in television history. In real life, Ferguson is married to Justin Mikita since 2013, while Stonestreet had been in a relationship with Schweitzer since 2017.
Lindsay Schweitzer is a pediatric nurse, believed to be working in Los Angeles where Stonestreet also resides. Though her fiancé enjoys the glitz and glamor of the entertainment world, Schweitzer is known to be a private person. Nevertheless, she has made quite a few stunning red carpet appearances beside her beau.
Stonestreet and Schweitzer met in 2016 during the Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City. They started dating soon afterward and have been inseparable ever since. "They are very happy to have met each other. They're enjoying spending time together," an insider source told PEOPLE while they were dating.
Stonestreet also opened up about their relationship in a 2017 interview with Ellen DeGeneres on the latter's talk show. The host brought up Schweitzer during a conversation and Stonestreet could not help gushing. "Your girlfriend is lovely — I met her backstage. She's a nurse. That's a good thing for you, because you're a hypochondriac," Ellen had said.
In response, Stonestreet shared, "I'm a big baby, too. She calms me — she calms my nerves. I'm a very high-strung person." The couple chooses to keep their relationship quite private, but are often spotted pranking each other, when not engaging in philanthropic activities. In March 2020, Stonestreet announced on Twitter that he and his girlfriend together would donate 200,000 meals to people in need in Missouri and Kansas, through the charity organization Harvesters.
Though the newly engaged duo is still tight-lipped about the next step, we can already hear the wedding bells ringing and cannot wait to see them as husband and wife.
