Emmys 2020: 'The Good Place' fans enraged over show being snubbed for 4 years, say it was 'robbed' of a win

The 72nd Emmys have begun, and that too virtually for the first time in the award show’s history. Jimmy Kimmel is helming the hosting duties for the third time. The nomination list was led by HBO’s ‘Watchmen’, which has received a whopping 26 nods. ‘Succession’ and ‘The Mandalorian’ have also scored prime spots in the list of contenders.

However, it is was ‘Schitt's Creek’ which was on an award sweeping spree. The show won Outstanding Comedy Series, Eugene Levy won Outstanding Lead Actor (Comedy Series) and Catherine O'Hara won the Outstanding Lead Actress. Even though the fans of the show were celebrating, some fans were miffed that ‘The Good Place’ got snubbed at the Emmys this year.

They took to Twitter to express their disappointment. One user said, “The good place getting robbed on their last season.” Another said, “I LOVE Schitt's Creek but The Good Place got robbed. Just an all-time great show.” Another commented, “I love Schitt's Creek, but was really pulling for THE GOOD PLACE this year. D'arcy Carden was robbed of a nomination last year and I hoped she'd get it this year.” One fa asked, “Why hasn't ted danson won an emmy ? who's in charge of this ?? hello ?????” One opined, “And yet again, the good place was robbed. william jackson harper was that show's most underrated performer. absolutely genius performance.” Another stated, “Schitt's Creek is cleaning up at the Emmy's tonight, but The Good Place got robbed for best writing in a comedy series.” One fan commented, “Wow so Schitts Creek just sweeping EVERYTHING at the #emmys? Canadian representation. I’m here for it. HOWEVER, The Good Place series finale was absolutely robbed.” Writer Stephen Thompson wrote: “I can't be mad about any of these Schitt's Creek wins; it's a wonderful show. But I *really* wish Michael Schur's script for The Good Place's finale had won. The degree of difficulty on that thing was remarkable, and he stuck the landing so hard. #Emmys.”

There were others who were irked that they got snubbed for four years. One said, "My thoughts about The Good Place being snubbed for 4 years." Another said, "The fact that The Good Place was snubbed every year and never won through its entire run is some big forking bull shirt  #Emmys Seriously one of the best shows ever I’m mad." One commented, "I'm honestly shocked that the finale of The Good Place didn't win. I never care so much about snubs, but that one was a beautiful piece of work and deserved recognition." One fan noted, "The way Michael Shur keeps getting snubbed!!!!! The Office, Parks & Rec, and now the Good place."

‘The Good Place’ was nominated for: Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor in a comedy series for Ted Danson, William Jackson Harper got nominated for Supporting Actor in a comedy series and the category nomination for actress D’Arcy Carden.
