News of the couple expecting a baby broke in June this year via Us Weekly but none of them had either confirmed or commented on the subject before. The outlet had reported that Emma's mother Kelly Cunningham had confirmed the news by citing her since-deleted comments on Instagram from when fans started to congratulate her on her daughter's reported pregnancy. "Thank you so much! Very excited," she responded to one Instagram comment. While she replied "Yes!!" to another fan who asked if Emma was pregnant.
Emma and Hedlund were first linked in March 2019 after they were spotted a walk in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. This link-up news was hot on the heels of Emma calling off her engagement with her longtime on again off again partner Evan Peters, according to Elle. Earlier this year, Us Weekly had quoted a source saying that the couple was "having fun and enjoying each other" without getting too serious. "They are not talking an engagement or marriage at the moment," the outlet's source said. "They like hanging out and going out together, and their relationship is more fun than serious."
Before Emma, Garrett, who is also a SAG Award-nominated actor, dated Kirsten Dunst for four years. The relationship was called off in early 2016 with a source telling PEOPLE at the time, "They have very different personalities and werenβt on the same page when it came to their future. Their relationship has been very rocky for a while, so the breakup is actually a relief for them."
