Emma Roberts expecting first child with boyfriend Garrett Hedlund after one year of dating
Emma Roberts is pregnant and expecting her first child with boyfriend Garrett Hedlund, it has been revealed.
Us Weekly revealed on their 'Hot Hollywood' news podcast that the 'American Horror Story' actress had taken the next step in her relationship with Hedlund and that the couple would soon be welcoming a child into the world together.
MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) had previously reported that the 29-year-old had broken off her engagement with Evan Peters in March 2019 after they dated for seven years. However, there had not been any bad blood between the pair and they walked away on amicable terms. "Emma and Evan were heading for a split and now are just friends," a source said at the time. "Evan has moved out. It wasn’t a bad breakup.
It was around the same time that eyewitnesses saw Roberts walking with Hedlund in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles and rumors began making the rounds that they were seeing each other. The witness said, during one of the walks, they saw them holding hands and the 'Triple Frontier' star had "his arm around [her]."
A few days later, the new couple was even seen kissing outside a restaurant, after catching dinner together. "Garrett and Emma have been friends, but this is new, casual, and just a couple of weeks old," another source said.
Roberts had started dating Peters in 2012 after filming the indie comedy-drama 'Adult World.' They went on to share the screen across four seasons of 'American Horror Story,' and their relationship blossomed.
"It’s really amazing,” Peters had said of working with Roberts on Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology. "You’re at set and you’re in a city that you don’t really know that well. It’s nice to have your best friend there to go to dinner with and check out the city."
But it wasn't always straightforward. In 2013, Roberts was arrested following an altercation with Peters that left with a bloodied nose. Representatives for the couple later said that the fight was an “unfortunate incident and misunderstanding,” and that Roberts “was released after questioning” and was “working together [with Peters] to move past it".
They got engaged later that same year but went on to take breaks in their relationship in 2015, when they briefly called off their engagement, and again in 2016 before calling it quits for good last year.
Roberts had spoken of their split in May 2019 in an interview with Cosmopolitan where she admitted it had been difficult for her. "I think that no matter who you are or what you do or wherever in the world you are, anything ending is hard," she had said.
"Losing something is hard. And the only thing I can say for that is... I’m realizing that life is highs and lows. I’m trying to ride them out and live somewhere in the middle," she continued. "When you’re low, you think it’s never going to end. When you’re high, you’re so scared of it ending. And I’ve lived in both of those places for too long."
