SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Elon Musk has vowed to fully reveal what led to Twitter's decision to expurgate the Hunter Biden laptop story almost two years ago. The new boss of the social media platform answered a user who told Musk to get to the bottom of why the laptop story was censored. The social media intentionally prevented users from sharing a link to a front-page newspaper article about Hunter Biden's personal life in an act of 'politically motivated censorship' and his contentious business ties to Ukraine in the run-up to the 2020 Presidential Election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Right-wing media figure Alex Lorusso asked followers to "raise your hand if you think [Musk] should make public all internal discussions about the decision to censor the story on Hunter Biden's laptop before the 2020 Election in the interest of Transparency". Musk responded, "This is necessary to restore public trust." Many media outlets, social media sites and left-leaning disinformation experts professed that Trump and others on the right were feeding misinformation when stories about Hunter Biden's laptop started to emerge. Musk called the platform's decision "obviously incredibly inappropriate" prior to his $44 billion acquisition.

Musk has promised to make Twitter a more open 'digital town square' after buying the app earlier this year. "Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated," Musk wrote in a statement upon the purchase approval. The story adduced a voicemail from Joe Biden to his son saying he "needed to get help" for his ongoing substance abuse and affixed the timing of the report to Republicans alarming to launch an appraisal into the president's complicity in Hunter's foreign business deals.

Multiple outlets and social media companies dismissed the scandal and made sure stories were censored and whistleblowers claimed FBI agents went out of their way to obstruct investigations. Daily Mail reported that they hired top cyber forensics experts at Maryman & Associates to look into the hard drive to determine its authenticity. The firm's founder, Brad Maryman, was a 29-year veteran of the FBI, served as a Chief Information Security Officer and founded the bureau's cyber forensics unit. Dr Joseph Greenfield, Maryman's partner, is an associate professor at the University of Southern California and helped write their degree program in intelligence and cyber operations.

After an extensive analysis of the hard drive, Greenfield and Maryman produced a report which said, "The operating system timestamps appear to be authentic, and no evidence was found to suggest that the timestamps or data were altered or manufactured. No indications were found that would suggest the data was manufactured."

Twitter users also reacted to the story. One user wrote, "Please do! It took mere weeks to determine it was Russian disinformation but two years later, it is his laptop. The info didn’t change, except everything else." Another wrote, "I really hope it is released. I’m interested in reading it all. I’m sure the main stream media will deny most of the information and claim it is false."

A user tweeted, "Why stop there? Let’s release everyone’s laptop contents", while another wrote, "Absolutely, we need confirmation that @POTUS is the “Big Guy” Has anyone followed up with his business partner?" "Release it! Would be nice for some openness and honesty. No media outlets can claim that. Such a shame we have come to this in America", tweeted one user.
