'Honestly, Nevermind': Drake springs album surprise, trolls say ‘he wants us to forget ‘Certified Lover Boy’
Looks like music lovers are going to get bombed with a lot of fresh music as a day after Beyonce announced the release date of her seventh album i.e. July 29, hip-hop icon Drake too broke the Internet by announcing the release date of his seventh album. The Toronto native took to his Instagram on Thursday, June 16 to surprise his fans as he shared the name of his solo studio album- ‘Honestly, Nevermind.’
The Grammy-winning rapper left his global fans in shock with the news as hashtags like ‘#Drake’ and ‘#CertifiedLoverBoy’ quickly grabbed one of the top spots on Twitter. The 35-year-old’s brand new studio effort comes exactly nine months after ‘Certified Lover Boy’ aka CLB. This soon became a joke on Twitter as the CLB album cover had multiple emojis of a pregnant woman. Drake's ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ will be hitting the leading streaming platforms on Friday, June 17.

Drake's 7th studio album 'Honestly, Nevermind'
Drake with his 113 million fans and followers on Instagram kept it very simple and casual as he simply shared the album cover that only featured the text ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ written in a gothic style. He captioned the post as, “7th studio album “HONESTLY, NEVERMIND” out at midnight.” The ‘One Dance’ hitmaker is so far not divulging any other details about his latest project and will probably look to tease fans with something closer to the time of launch. At the time of writing this article, the singer also dropped his tracklist on Instagram.
Drake, however, is expected to share details when he sits on the premiere episode of his SiriusXM radio show ‘Table For One’ at 11 pm ET Thursday on Sound 42. Speaking of ‘Certified Lover Boy’, his sixth studio album was released in September 2021 and featured hip-hop heavyweights such as Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, Future, Young Thug, Rick Ross and 21 Savage and a few others.

‘He wants us to forget ‘Certified Lover Boy’
Social media users flocked to Twitter as they made fun of how Drake will be releasing his new album exactly nine months after CLB. “Drake dropping his new album 288 days after he dropped ‘certified lover boy’. 288 days = just a bit over 9 months, so this new album is a bit overdue”, said one user as another posted, “HE BETTER NOT LIE IM NOT WAITING MONTHS FOR A NEW ALBUM LIKE HE DID W CERTIFIED LOVER BOY.” One user chimed in, “Drake dropping his new album 9 months after 'Certified Lover Boy' is a different kind of artistry. Absolute creativity and planning.”
The next one tweeted, “Certified lover boy, planted the seed and 9 months later popped out another boy.” Meanwhile, one shared, “And the fact that the title of the album is Honestly, Nevermind means he wants us to forget Certified Lover Boy.” One user said, “What if Certified Lover Boy was just an experimental album and the pregnant emojis meant the real album (Honestly, Nevermind) was due in 9 months HIS MIND.” And, another concluded, “Drake dropping a new album so quick after ‘Certified Lover Boy’ just confirms what we all knew. The album was trash.”
