Drake set to drop new project 'Dark Lane Demo Tapes', announces new album this summer
Rapper Drake has been keeping himself busy during the coronavirus lockdown. After dropping massive hints about some upcoming projects in conversations with Diddy and OVO Mark, the hip-hop icon has now confirmed that a brand-new project will be dropping soon.
The new mixtape is called 'Dark Lane Demo Tapes' and will be released at midnight EST on Friday, May 1. Earlier on Thursday, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that several new Drake tracks had appeared on music ID platform Shazam, with titles such as 'From Florida With Love' and 'Time Flies'.
Then Drake made the big announcement on his Instagram page on Thursday, April 30, and also confirmed that his sixth studio album would be dropping for fans this summer.
The full statement from Drizzy read, "My brothers @oliverelkhatib @ovonoel put together a lot of the songs people have been asking for (some leaks and some joints from SoundCloud and some new vibes) DARK LANE DEMO TAPES out everywhere at midnight…also my 6th STUDIO ALBUM DROPPING SUMMER 2020!!! Lucky number 6 soon fwd."
You read that right! So on top of this new 14-track mixtape, we can also soon expect a worthy successor to Drake's 2018 album 'Scorpion', which featured appearances from artistes like Jay-Z and Ty Dolla $ign, as well as the late greats Michael Jackson and Static Major.
Drizzy's new 'Dark Lane Demo Tapes' will also showcase a fresh batch of superstars like Future, Young Thug, Chris Brown, Playboi Carti, and others.
TikTok users will also be pleasantly surprised to see the inclusion of the Billboard No.1 smash hit 'Toosie Slide' on the confirmed tracklist. The 'Toosie Slide' dance has already become a rage on the viral video platform, with the #ToosieSlide hashtag amassing over one billion views in just two days on TikTok.
