Donald Trump and wife Melania attend controversial Saudi LIV golf gala in Manhanttan
Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump, attended the star-studded gala in Manhattan, sponsored by LIV Golf, on Wednesday, Jul 27, 2022. The Saudi-backed LIV Golf International's tournaments are set to start at Trump's golf courses on July 28, 2022, and the former president is seeded against the likes of Bryson DeChambeau and Dustin Johnson. The pro-am tournament precedes the first round of the LIV Golf Invitational at the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster, New Jersey.
The golf tournament has attracted the rage of those disgusted by the Saudi government's's dark track record of human rights abuses and links to terror and the 9/11 attacks, blaming Trump for sweeping these issues under the carpet for the generous "paycheck" to host the event. Trump had controversially agreed to host the event at his club after it was dumped by the PGA in 2016 and again in 2021 after the Capitol riot.

Other celebrities include LIV Golf Investments CEO Greg "The Shark” Norman, a retired pro-golfer who nicknamed himself. This event comes after years of controversy surrounding LIV Golf. The tournament venue is approximately 50 miles from the previous location of The Twin Towers. To top that off, the company LIV Golf is notoriously known to be involved with the government of Saudia Arabia in "sports washing" to clean up the country's image on the world stage after being accused of several human rights violations. LIV golf, an alternative to the erstwhile PGA Tour, is, in fact, heavily funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Funds.
A Twitter user posted a picture of the former first couple and wrote: "President Trump and Melania at the Welcome Dinner for the LIV golf tournament being held at his Bedminster club."

This, along with the unmissable connection to the events that took place on 9/11, has not been received well by the people of the country. Almost all except four terrorists in the darkest day for the United States were from Saudia Arabia, and recently released FBI documents also establish strong links between their government and the terrorist organization. Trump, on the other hand, criticized the PGA Tour for blacklisting the players participating in LIV Golf.
He took to Truth Social and posted this — “All of those golfers that remain ‘loyal’ to the very disloyal PGA, in all of its different forms, will pay a big price when the inevitable MERGER with LIV comes.” Some other golfers coming with their big guns in the tournament include Charles Barkley, Caitlyn Jenner, and Lawrence Taylor.

Charles Barkley may also take up a broadcasting offer for LIV. There was quite some drama over this deal as well. The TNT analyst gave LIV an ultimatum to give him an offer and said, "I’m not gonna keep TNT in limbo. I don’t think it’s fair to them. They’ve gotten plenty of play out of me coming to play out there Thursday. I’m not just gonna be no show pony. Don’t be wasting my time. I’m not gonna waste y’all time. When I leave New Jersey Thursday night, when I leave the golf course, if I don’t have an offer, it’s over.”
