LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Don Cheadle is a proud husband, as ‘The Guard’ actor talks about his intimate pandemic wedding for the first time. In an interview with People, Cheadle said that he tied the knot with his longtime partner Bridgid Coulter in a small ceremony with a handful of people. "It was just me and her and our kids and our dogs and the pastor in the backyard," said Cheadle. The ‘Crash’ star jokingly said, “The best part of being married? The tax break." He revealed, "Our accountant proposed to us, really. It's like, 'You guys have to do this. Please do this." The 58-year-old actor further added, “I'm fortunate to be in this relationship."

It was during a June 2021 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, when Cheadle revealed to the world that he got married.

The Guest host Wanda Sykes started the conversation on marriage with the Oscar-and Emmy-nominated actor by saying that she owed an apology to him, "You texted me at the top of the year, I guess, and you told me that you just got married. And I was like, 'Oh damn, the pandemic got to Don and Bridgid'."

Skyes continued, "I was like, 'What the hell happened, man?' I think I just text something back, like, 'Hey, if you're happy, I'm happy for you.' ... I was like, 'Cheadle went Hollywood.'" Sykes confessed that she assumed that the couple was already married, to which Cheadle responded, “Yeah, I mean, that's understandable given that we've been together 28 years before we got married. I hold you blameless." The ‘Fail Safe’ actor shares children Ayana Tai, 28, and Imani, 26, with Coulter. Talking about them, Cheadle said "I'm very fortunate to be close with my 'adult-ren'—I don't even call him kids anymore. They're very grounded and un-Hollywood, and I'm glad about that." Tai presently works in the camera crew on several TV shows and movies, while Imani is a development associate at her father’s production company, This Radicle Act, as per People.

Cheadle also talks about his fellow Marvel actors and how they’re almost like family to him, "We don't see each other for many years, and then there'll be an opportunity to come together in Avengers or something. There would be another kid, or someone newly married or newly divorced. Everyone's situation continues to change. He adds, “So I've kind of grown up over the last 12 years with this cast who I really have fun with," he continues. On the work front, Cheadle will be next seen in the Netflix movie 'White Noise' streaming from December 30.
