2020 might have been rough, but 2021 and beyond does promise a little joy. If you were feeling miserable about your Marvel-bereft life, there's some good news to cheer you up. War Machine is getting his own series, yes you heard that right.  As part of the annual Disney Investor Day festivities, Marvel Studios announced James “Rhodey” Rhodes will get his own live-action series on Disney+ in the form of 'Armor Wars', which is adapted from the comics. War Machine, who was a close friend of Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, will find his way into the spotlight, just like other Marvel mainstays like Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), and more.

Here's what you need to know about the show.

Release date

'Armor Wars' is yet to get a release date.

Plot

The original comic series revolved around Stark’s insistence for always one-upping his own armor and the associated dangers with it. At one point, Stark encountered a Big Bad, that reversed the Iron Man armor and thus heralding the beginning of the Armor Wars. This due attention to this storyline will fit in line with Marvel Studios’ expansive universe, and fans would be happy to know that despite being dead, Iron Man will still have a presence in the universe. The details for the series have been kept secret.

War Machine was intended to have a larger role in 'Endgame' as the Vice President of the United States and is finally getting his due. "We took it out because it didn't have any story weight, but I believe that during one draft, in the five-year jump, Rhodie became vice president," Christopher Markus told ComicBook.com last year.

"It's not like [Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige] said, 'You know what, we had a meeting and we're going to have these three streaming services, so let's make sure...'" he added. 'No, if anything, I don't know what all the streaming shows are, but it feels like they might come off of Endgame in some ways, but at no point did anybody say, 'That's what we should do, so therefore, sprinkle that in.'"

Cast

Don Cheadle will return to reprise his role as Rhodey. He'll don the suit and find himself in a nightmarish situation after Stark's technology falls into conniving hands.
