'It's a really good song!' Dolly Parton reveals she buried a 'secret Christmas song' in time capsule in 2015
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Legendary Country singer Dolly Parton revealed how she desperately wanted to dig up a secret Christmas song she had written and placed in a time capsule seven years ago. She revealed that she had a "top-secret Christmas song" and how badly she wanted to dig up that "really good song," which is scheduled to release in 2045.
During an interview with Kelly Clarkson, Parton discussed how the song, which she wrote and recorded for the 2015 debut of her Dollywood DreamMore resort, had been driving her crazy for years. “You have no idea how that has bothered me,” Parton said, adding, “I wanna go dig that up so bad. It’s a really good song!" as per The Independent.

“I don’t know whose damn idea that was,” she jokingly said, adding, “They weren’t expecting me to be there at all, and I probably won’t be. I might be there, who knows? I figure it’ll probably disintegrate and nobody will ever hear it, that’s what bothers me. If it rots in there before they open it.”
Parton initially revealed the song's existence in her 2020 book 'Songteller: My Life in Lyrics', stating that it would be heard for the first time when her theme park workers opened the time capsule on the resort's 30th anniversary in 2045. Parton will be 99 at that point. The 'Jolene' singer described how it felt to place the surprise track in the time capsule. “Like burying one of my kids, putting it on ice or something, and I won’t be around to see it brought back to life. It’s just burning me up inside that I have to leave it in there,” she reportedly said.
The Southbank Centre hosted the premiere of Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol earlier in December. The characters from Charles Dickens and Parton's music are combined in the musical. “Bringing our reimagined Charles Dickens classic to London feels like a homecoming. My songs weave the music of my beautiful Smoky Mountains into this timeless Christmas story, and I can’t wait for London audiences to hear them as we tell that story, set in a place that is truly special to me,” Parton said.
