LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The owners of SOR Soap pitched their brand on the 20th episode of ABC's 'Shark Tank' Season 15, hoping to win over one of the sharks and help them expand SOR Soap into a great and profitable business. Even though practically all the Sharks were out, the miraculous product worked its magic and landed an offer from Mark Cuban at the last minute.

According to co-founder David Restiano, the concept of SOR Soap was intriguing since it transformed showers into therapeutic sessions, resulting in increased muscular flexibility and reduced joint pain. Dr Dan Staats, who had a medical background, took over the creation of SOR Soap by purchasing a soap-making book and viewing web videos.

He continued to experiment with essential oils and menthol until he found the correct mixture. When Dan and David discovered a manufacturing factory for their unique soap bars, they tested the product and sent it to physical therapists and athletes, only to receive excellent feedback.

Dan, for example, contributed 30 Jersey Mike's workers who participated in a clinical trial, and the product received only good comments. They claimed that SOR Soap increased their range of motion while causing significantly less pain when performing tasks.

As word of SOR Soap spread, the company received several investors; however, they turned down many of the offers because they wanted to concentrate on assisting customers in realizing the advantages of the product.

The handle-barred soap, which is made of hand-molded acrylic resin and other natural components like floral oil, citric acid, and Shea butter, may not be able to relieve every physical ache, but it does make a positive impact on people's lives, especially athletes.

According to co-founder David, despite poor sales in 2009, SOR Soap products have nearly increased year after year. SOR Soap, which has been around for about five years, has more than 80,000 fans on social media channels, particularly TikTok.

The two entrepreneurs intended to market their unusual soap bars by capitalizing on the "everything shower" trend.

After evaluating the product, 'Shark Tank' investors claimed to adore it and appreciate its advantages. Most investors were enthused about the scent, but they did not believe it was a viable business to spend $100,000 for 10%.

With a career sales total of $125K, they produced their highest sales of $70K in the last quarter. Sharks believed the firm lacked adequate margin for retail.

Robert Herjavec argues that he does not believe products with a few product categories or a single SKU to be worthwhile investments. Lori Greiner agreed to be a customer like Robert, but not a stockholder.

Mark's last-minute offer caused a dramatic 180-degree shift in events. While the founders and investors were discussing business, Mark felt a huge sense of relaxation as he sat there, utilizing the product. "It fixed my damn neck, right?" said Mark.

Mark offered $100,000 for 20%, to which the founders responded with 15%. In the end, the founders couldn't resist taking a gamble on the sole option available, and the deal was finalized for 20%.

Who are the founders of SOR Soap?

David, a Marist College alumnus, grew up to be an athletic personality who played soccer before landing a corporate position as a graphic artist. However, he has always had a thirst and the qualities of an entrepreneur, which manifested themselves in the 2000s when he assisted in the development of a nightlife app that allowed users to book parties at clubs.

Although it was initially successful, David later found the long drives tiresome. The start-up was eventually shut down.

He still works as a graphic artist and used to instruct soccer at St Rose High School in Belmar, as well as participate in adult soccer competitions.

To relieve his growing aches and pains, David began attending physical therapy sessions with Dan. As the epidemic disturbed his regular routine, he began running to keep flexible and healthy but ended up with a hip problem.

When he went back to meet Dan, he scraped his skin with a metal object to relieve the stiffness around his muscles. In 2019, David recognized that a harder soap may give him a similar experience while bathing, so he devised a soap-based soft tissue scraper with a handle to make it easier to hold.

Soon, he approached Dan to ask if he would be interested in producing the idea he had in mind.
