LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ahead of the release of 'Deadpool & Wolverine', fans have been scratching their heads over all the possibilities the new MCU movie could bring to the table.
The much awaited film pairs up Marvel's beloved superheroes- Deadpool and Wolverine, known for their love-hate relationship, in an exciting adventure against an existential threat.
The TVA in the show 'Loki' and the multiverse in movies like 'Avengers: Endgame', 'Spider-Man: Far From Home', and 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' opened the door for the X-Men and mutants in the MCU.
However, it's still unclear how director Shawn Levy and his team, including Ryan Reynolds, will handle the events in 'Deadpool & Wolverine'. This leads fans to come up with exciting theories before the release.
Crazy fan theory suggests Mojo is the one pulling all the strings
'Deadpool & Wolverine' takes a leap of six years forward from the events of 'Deadpool 2'. Wade Wilson is living his quiet, retirement life when he is approached by Time Variance Authority (TVA) for a new mission.
A fan took to Reddit and suggested that it might not be TVA but Marvel's super villain Mojo, who picks up Deadpool.
He writes, "My theory is that it isn’t the TVA that picks up Deadpool, but Mojo, who setup shop in a TVA headquarters and uses their tech to put on shows, plucking people from doomed realities to make entertainment for himself and his people."
The Old Man Logan theory
Picking up the cues from the trailer mentioning that "this Wolverine failed his entire world", a fan mentions that "the only major case of Wolverine failing his world that comes to mind for me is in Old Man Logan, where Mysterio tricks him into massacring the X-Men in a hallucination induced rage."
"Given 2017’s Logan largely drew inspiration from those comics though, it seems unlikely that they’d pull from them again for this movie, which has me thinking it’s either going to be inspired by something else, or something completely new," he adds.
In 'Wolverine' #70, Mysterio tricks Wolverine into attacking his fellow X-Men, leaving him traumatized and hesitant to use his claws.
In a trailer for 'Deadpool & Wolverine', a downcast Wolverine sits in a bar until Deadpool asks for his help.
Wolverine refuses, and Deadpool retorts, "Is that what you said when your world went to shit?"
The trailer also shows a brief clip shows Wolverine in front of large gravestones, hinting that this might be where his X-Men friends are buried.
A connection to Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man 2'?
In 2023, a tweet from CanWeGetSomeToast, went viral which mentioned that 'Deadpool & Wolverine' "ends on a poetic note with Deadpool and Wolverine sharing some pizza together."
The tweet further teased, "Where or who’s pizza I can’t say."

Highlighting the possible comeback of M Aziz, the pizza owner from Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man 2', as reported by AlexFromCC, a fan speculated on Reddit, "Deadpool and Wolverine, both displaced (since their worlds are "turned to shit" as Deadpool calls it) go to the Raimi Spider-Man universe to recruit Tobey Spider-Man to fight a Multiversal threat since like Wolverine, Tobey Spider-Man is probably also a Nexus variant, meaning if he dies his universe will tear apart. And those characters will return as the leads in Secret Wars."

'Deadpool & Wolverine' set stage for the new Wolverine actor
Fans have been speculating over what the portal jump could mean in the film. After watching the trailer, a fan wrote, "I just had an interesting thought. We see at the end of the trailer, Deadpool and Wolverine both jump through the portal, what if they end up in the MCU, and Wolverine is no longer Hugh Jackman, but the actor who will play Wolverine in the MCU."
His theory was supported by another fan who said, "That’s a valid point! Like he transforms into that Wolvy during the jump? That’d be dope too, just anything, like Hugh had his perfect goodbye already."
"This was posted somewhere else, and it wasn’t my idea, but this movie seems like it could launch the new Wolverine actor. It would be so great if something like that is going to happen (and amazing that it wouldn’t leak)," wrote another fan mesmerized by the idea of new Wolverine.
Who opens the portal in 'Deadpool & Wolverine'?
"If you notice Cassandra is standing near them so that means they are not jumping willingly, Cassandra is controlling them by telekinesis and the portal is also opened by Cassandra and I'm 99% confirmed on this", wrote a fan on Reddit, speculating over who opened the portal.
While several fans believe it to be Cassandra, some believe that there's "someone more powerful than her."
A fan even suggested that Dr Strange could be the one opening the portal.

'Deadpool & Wolverine' is the third installment of the MCU's 'Deadpool' series and the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
It features Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as James Logan/ Wolverine.
The film will release in cinemas on July 26, 2024 in the US, followed by a digital release on Disney+ three months later.
