Spoilers for 'Deadliest Catch' Season 16 Episode 14 'Bering Sea Crash'

The winter season has only made crabbing a lot harder for the skippers. Add to that a blitzkrieg bomb cyclone, there's more than crab at stake. 'Bering Sea Crash' follows the Summer Bay, Cornelia Marie and Lady Alaska's journey through the rough waters as they try and haul as much crab as they can in tough conditions. It seems only Josh Harris and Casey McManus seem to be unperturbed by the cyclone as they even wager on whose plans work best.

The Summer Bay and the Lady Alaska go a man down as they get battered by the rough storm. Bill's greenhorn, Mahlon injures himself while pulling a pot and is down for the count, while Mac, Junior's trusted engineer, gets hit by a 25-foot rogue wave that launches the ice off the deck and slams into his back. With the two sufferings, both crews continue to work tirelessly despite being short-handed.

The Cornelia Marie seems to be rocketing along as Josh plans for an extended victory run by plotting his pots far north. Casey keeps his course intact and a bet is laid. Whoever gets the most crabs wins and the loser cleans the toilet with a toothbrush. Casey's pots come up filled to the brim as he rolls up a count of 300+ while Josh, despite placing a good 50+ pots, gets nowhere close to the number.

That said. 'Bering Sea Crash' was all about learning a valuable lesson. This profession isn't for slackers or the faint of heart. There's a challenge almost every day and that makes it difficult for most to even think of doing this in the long run. It is a pity that despite working hard, Wild Bill and his crew end with meagre returns and are forced back to the docks due to Mahlon's injury. Credit to the skippers as they have always put their crew first instead of the hauls and the mission.

We'd love to see more of Jake Anderson's Saga too. With an inexperienced crew to go, it would be interesting to see how he fares when his team hits the Bomb cyclone.

'Deadliest Catch' Season 16 airs on Tuesdays at 8 pm ET on Discovery.
