From Timothée Chalamet to Ginnifer Goodwin, worst dressed stars who missed the mark at Oscars 2026

Not all Oscar nominees in attendance made a style statement, and one of them was 'Marty Supreme' Timothée Chalamet.

The 2026 Oscars may be over, but the buzz around some celebrity outfits continues to make headlines. As much as these actors made fans experience 'Absolute Cinema', their red-carpet looks perhaps briefly took the spotlight away from their cinematic experience. The likes of Timothée Chalamet, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Melissa McCarthy were all graded between worst and weird for their outfits and accessories upon arriving in Los Angeles. We take a look at some of the names whose looks copped flak during the red carpet of the marquee event.

Timothée Chalamet

If missing out on an Oscar wasn't disappointing enough, the 'Marty Supreme' star's choice of fashion ended up garnering some criticism as well. An all-white tux with unflattering accessories and the black sunglasses wasn't a hit with the fans. Plus, the heavy boots on a double-breasted suit were an instant dampener. And also, what's with the moustache? The other honorable mention for the befuddling choice of moustache was Best Actor nominee Leonardo DiCaprio.

Kristen Wiig

Widely doing the rounds as one of the worst-dressed, Kristen Wiig's black pearl outfit with over-the-top fabric was not well-received by critics. Usually considered an elegant dresser during awards ceremonies, Wiig was one of the disappointments on the red carpet this time around. What was heartening, however, was 'The Bridesmaids' ladies: Wiig, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph, Melissa McCarthy, and Ellie Kemper taking the stage to wholesome applause from the crowd. Byrne was one of the nominees for Best Actress for 'If I had Legs, I'd Kick You', but lost out to Jessie Buckley for 'Hamnet'.

Ginnifer Goodwin

Another actress with a thumbs-down for her red carpet look. Ginnifer Goodwin was seen in a heavy-looking black organza dress, topped with a diamond necklace and a handbag. Some believed the look was far from the glamorous approach Goodwin believed she was sporting. The saving grace, perhaps, was the 18k gold necklace. As for the outfit, so much for the Sabyasachi. The footwear didn't go unnoticed either.

Melissa McCarthy

For all the charm and chutzpah she brings to the screen, her red carpet look was criticized for its lack of appeal. McCarthy was seen in a long-sleeved, high-neck, body-hugging black dress with rose-gold sequins. As detailed as the outfit was, it wasn't enough to win critics' approval. Safe to say, it does look like two outfits.

Auli'i Cravalho

Maybe Cravalho believed she was going to a ball with the large floral rosettes. That explains the light-colored ivory gown with minimal accessories. As charming as the smile and the grace that come with it were, the unconventional sense of dressing, much like Chalamet's, didn't get the critics' stamp of approval.
