'Dark Nights: Death Metal': Evil T-Rex Batman by Warren Ellis is the most exciting new thing in comics

Batman might be one of the most deadly characters in DC Comics but what happens when you add 8,000 pounds of bite force to the mix and make him a bad guy? You get Evil Batman Who is also a T-Rex.

When Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo came out with 'Dark Nights: Metal' in 2017, they added one of the most insanely cool chapters in comics history to Batman's decades-long story. Now they're raising the stakes with the sequel event 'Dark Nights: Death Metal' and with it comes a whole host of new evil Batmen including a Batman who transferred his consciousness into the T-Rex robot he keeps in the Batcave.

If you needed a reminder of just how wacky and cool comics can get, T-Rex Batman is everything you need. And to make it even more exciting, legendary comic book writer Warren Ellis is doing a two-page short comic about this insane creation spawned from the mind of Scott Snyder.

"Yes, there is an evil Batman who is also a T-Rex," Ellis revealed in a statement. This is a thing I discovered when I was asked to write a two-page short comic about an evil Batman who is also a T-Rex. This is out on August 25."

"This is lockdown psychosis in full effect," he continued. "Hey, Warren, Scott Snyder invented an evil Batman who is also a T-Rex. Can you do me a two-page origin story of The Evil Batman Who Is Also A T-Rex?' And I say yes. Obviously."

The story will be appearing in 'Dark Nights: Death Metal Legends of the Dark Knights' #1, which will serve as a sort of guide to all the evil Batmen of what Scott Snyder describes as the "Metalverse". The book will also feature a framing story detailing a new transformation that has been teased for the Batman Who Laughs, the breakout star of 'Metal'.

With everything going on in the world, it is nice to have some plain old comics madness to keep the mind entertained. And honestly, we're more excited for Evil T-Rex Batman than we ever thought we would be, especially with such a master writer handling the story.

Keep an eye out for 'Dark Nights: Death Metal Legends of the Dark Knights' #1, arriving in stores on August 25.
