'Dark Nights: Death Metal' #2 Preview: Wonder Woman meets old friends the JSA as her roaring journey continues

Spoilers for 'Dark Nights: Death Metal' #2

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's 'Dark Nights: Death Metal' #1 kicked things up to the height of craziness with multiple evil Batmen, a Lasso of Truth chainsaw, and the death of the Batman Who Laughs. And that was just the first issue.

Now, the crazy ride continues with Wonder Woman, Wally West, and Swamp-Thing making their way across the hellish landscape of the Metalverse in search of the main universe Batman. Last we saw him, Bruce was using a Black Lantern ring to fight his evil counterparts with an army of the dead and it looks like he's hiding out in a cemetery. This isn't just any cemetery though. As revealed in a preview released for Issue #2, Batman is hiding out in Valhalla Cemetery, the Crypt of Heroes, where all the great heroes of Earth have been put to rest. And other previews tease the return of some of Earth's greatest heroes: the JSA. 

That's right, it looks like 'Dark Nights: Death Metal' #2 will feature really old versions of Jay Garrick (the original Flash), Alan Scott (the original Green Lantern), Wildcat, and Doctor Fate. But it's not just old friends who will be appearing, the issue also features its fair share of evil Batmen, including a new one who combines Batman with the powers of the Atom.



 

The preview reveals that Batom (as he calls himself) doesn't survive more than a page as he is squished under the wheels of Wonder Woman's ride. Of course, her ride is a sentient Batmobile called Batmobeast so we're not complaining.

Here's the synopsis for 'Dark Nights: Death Metal' #2: "Get ready to scream! Wonder Woman roars across the horrifying Dark Multiverse landscape in the world’s most demented monster truck, with Swamp Thing riding shotgun! The two arrive at the ghoulish cemetery base of Batman and his army of zombies, but can the former friends stand each other long enough to form a plan and take back the planet? Plus, what’s Lobo doing in space? Don’t miss the second chapter of the wildest ride in the DC Universe, from the epic team of writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo!"

'Dark Nights: Death Metal' #2 will be available in stores on July 14.
