If you're a fan of the cheerleading drama series, 'Dare Me', get set to be disappointed. In a bit of a bummer, the USA Network has canceled the show after season one. As plenty of fans tweet #SaveDareMe and bring another season, the show may get a new life on another network.

The producers at Universal Content Productions are trying to shop the series to other networks and streaming services, sources told The Hollywood Reporter. While it's not clear whether they are approaching another network or a streaming service, Netflix is already a producer on the show. Back in 2019, the streamer gained first-run rights in markets outside of the US.

It is highly likely that Netflix could save the show. Based on the novel of the same name by Megan Abbott, the series tracks a pair of best friend cheerleaders, Addy Hanlon (Herizen Guardiola) and Beth Cassidy (Marlo Kelly). The show takes a new twist with the arrival of a new cheerleading coach played by Willa Fitzgerald as the town is struck by tragedy.

A part coming-of-age story, part small-town drama, part murder mystery, the series exposes the physical and psychological extremes that some young women are willing to endure in order to get ahead.

'Dare Me' (USA Network)

While the first season opened to positive reviews and scored a 83% rating among the critics on Rotten Tomatoes, it averaged just 402,000 viewers per episode throughout the 10-episode season.

The network seems to be moving its focus to live and unscripted programs and probably that could be the reason why the series was dropped off. Disappointed fans have been demanding the show's renewal. "I still need to know what happened in cheer camp!! Damn it. f**king finish what you've started #DareMe #SaveDareMe," one said and another posted, "Someone pls pick it up!!! We need season 2!!!!" Wondering about the plot, one fan said, "Please save #DareMe @netflix I need to know what happens next to all of them and the damn Hamsa."

"Hello @UCP, #DareMe has a legion of fans and we were very sad with the news of the cancellation of the series and we want to know about her future, we really want you to save it! #SaveDareMe," one wrote and another said, "Noooo! @netflix has gotta do what it did with YOU and take it on. #DareMe is very binge-able!"

Another posted, "Noooo! @netflix has gotta do what it did with YOU and take it on. #DareMe is very binge-able!"

Only time will tell if the show gets renewed at some other network or streaming service. For now, we can just hope for it to happen!
