Fans appreciated Larry Birkhead for doing a 'great job' of raising his daughter so well, with one even comparing Dannielynn to her late mother Anna Nicole Smith

Janet Jackson’s 2003 iconic Kentucky Derby Gala outfit came alive again as Dannielynn Birkhead got a chance to wear it. The 15-year-old daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith attended the 2022 Barnstable Brown Kentucky Derby Eve Gala at the Barnstable-Brown Mansion in Louisville, Kentucky, with her father Larry Birkhead on Friday night, May 6, 2022. Not only did she attend but also made heads turn as she strolled in wearing Janet Jackson’s badass outfit -- the black pantsuit, oversize belt, and newsboy cap.

Janet Jackson, 55, donned the outfit to the same event in 2003. Dannielynn also met Janet Jackson at the event and took photos. “What a night! Dannielynn got to meet @janetjackson at the Barnstable-Brown Gala while wearing Janet’s outfit that she wore to the same party in 2003. Janet was so gracious and complimentary of Dannielynn in her outfit. She made Dannielynn so happy and even graciously posed for a photo with us,” Dannielynn's father Larry Birkhead, 49, wrote on Instagram while sharing pictures of his daughter and Janet.

“It [the outfit] was purchased as a part of Janet’s @juliens_auctions benefitting charity,” Larry Birkhead said in an Instagram post, adding the hashtag “#prouddad.”

The Birkhead family is regular at the Kentucky Derby, where Larry Birkhead and Anna Nicole Smith met and fell in love in the early 2000s. Dannielynn was born in 2006, just five months before the ‘Playboy' model died at the age of 39 from an accidental drug overdose. Dannielynn "doesn't really know a tonne of things about her mom," Larry stated in 2021 because she was only a newborn when Smith died. But as a father, Larry has been fulfilling his daughter’s wishes. 

One user on Twitter wrote, “Her dad has done a great job,” praising Larry for bringing up Dannielynn so well. Another user wrote, “Wait, I thought she was Anna Nicole!! They are so alike.” Another person said, “@KimKardashian is given Marilyn Monroe’s dress to wear, and Dannielynn gets Janet Jackson? This is some a*sbackwards line of thinking,” to which a user replied, “Janet put the outfit up for auction, going towards charity. Janet is even pictures with Dannielynn wearing said outfit.” “Two very nice people!” a user said about Dannielynn and Larry Birkhead.
