Janet Jackson tells the truth about her life in the soon-to-be-released documentary series titled 'Janet', where she reveals facts about her life and unseen footage. Promoted as "a four-hour event in celebration of the 40th anniversary of her first album", it aims to provide an intimate, honest, and unfiltered look at her untold story. The docuseries premieres on January 28 and will be simulcast on Lifetime and A&E.
The documentary series gives insight into Janet Jackson's life, family and career, including her rise in the pop industry as well as many personal revelations. Promoted as "real" and "unfiltered," the docuseries is four hours long. Talking about the fat-shaming she faced from her brother and pop icon Michael Jackson, she said, "There were times when Mike used to tease me and call me names. 'Pig, horse, slut, or hog, cow.' He would laugh about it and I'd laugh too, but then there was somewhere down inside that it would hurt. When you have somebody say you're too heavy, it affects you."

"This is my story, told by me. Not through someone else's eyes," the 55-year-old singer-songwriter said in the teaser of her documentary. "I'm an emotional eater, so when I get stressed or something is really bothering me, it comforts me. I did Good Times and that's the beginning of having weight issues and the way I looked at myself. I was developing at a very young age and I started getting a chest and they would bind it so I would look more flat-chested," she said talking about the weight and body image issues she faced.
Talking about how a wedge grew between her and Michael, she said, "It was Thriller, that's when it all started to change. I remember really loving the Thriller album but for the first time in my life, I felt it was different between us, a shift was happening. That's the time Mike and I started going our separate ways. He just wasn't as fun as he used to be."
The documentary was shot over five years and "features never-before-seen archive footage from her childhood as well as home videos of her recent years as a mother to son, Eissa Al Mana," reports Daily Mail.
Janet posted the teaser of the documentary on her Instagram and captioned it, "Hey u guys. Excited to share the first teaser of my new documentary with u. #JanetDoc @LifetimeTV @AETV" When she posted the trailer of the documentary series, she captioned it, "1•28•22 8pm #janetjacksondoc @lifetimetv @aetv." Along with exclusive footage, it includes confessionals of her family, friends, and colleagues.
