Paris Jackson has opened up about the story behind her tattoos and piercings. The 23-year-old model is going to be on the cover of the new issue of LuisaViaRoma’s LVR magazine, where she revealed that she has inked several tattoos and piercings to honor late father and iconic singer Michael Jackson. The seven studs and hoops in her earlobes, for instance, are a nod to the “Beat it” singer’s lucky number.

“It’s more about the number of piercings than what is on them, but there is a sunburst, feather and dragon,” Paris shared with the magazine. The young actress and singer has more than 80 tattoos and many of them are dedicated to her dad. The tattoo on the front of her left forearm, for example, is the cover art from Michael Jackson’s 1991 album 'Dangerous' that she had inked back in 2016.

To this day Paris treasures her dad’s clothes and accessories. “I have a pair of my dad’s PJs and a bracelet that he wore the entire time I knew him. I have it in a safe place,” she shared. Among other things, the iconic star’s unique flashy sense of style also matches with her daughter’s “boho grunge” aesthetic.

Paris was recently in the news after she encouraged mental health professionals to invest in a “better vetting process” before they “hand out addictive medication like candy.” Jackson shared with LVR magazine, “There should be a better vetting process [in everything]: before you medicate — or something even more dangerous, like selling a gun — you should vet them. It’s important in all kinds of situations. It could be as simple as a job, or as complicated as medicine or a weapon. Psychiatrists hand out addictive medication like candy without really vetting the patient. There is no harm in vetting.”

Paris’s late father died from a cardiac arrest as a result of a lethal combination of prescription drugs in 2009. Since then she has famously struggled with drug and alcohol abuse herself.
