'DWTS' Finale: Cody Rigsby placed third, fans 'thank the lord' for not letting him win
The Finale of 'Dancing With The Stars' just went down and it was truly a fabulous night for the stars who after all the trials made it to the final leg of the competition. The ABC reality series gives celebs a chance to branch out and challenge themselves with fans loving the switch-up.
Celebrity fitness guru Cody Rigsby shared that he entered the dance world of 'DWTS' filled with nervousness and that nothing had challenged like this before. But the journey of 10 weeks paid off as he made it to the final four along with partner Cheryl Burke. The Finale saw him perform a Paso Doble and Cha Cha fusion dance to “Free Your Mind” for the first dance of the night and followed it up with a freestyle dance to a medley of 'Beethoven’s Fifth' and 'Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels (Just Dance Version)' by Todrick Hall. The fusion saw Cody receive appreciation from the judges for how far he has come in the competition with Judge Carrie Ann saying that he has proven himself. Judge Bruno said that he has to give him credit and said that he made the mission impossible performance into a mission accomplished one. Guest Judge Julliane Hough commented that initially he was an authentic fish in the fitness pond but now he's an authentic fish in the global pond and commended his improvements. Judge Len said it had vigor and vitality but wanted a little more shape at some parts. All four of them scored him a 9 for a total of 36 out of 40.
Before his final performance on the show, Cody and partner Cheryl shared some heartfelt moments in rehearsal. Both of them talked about how special this season was considering they went through Covid too. Cody shared that their relationship is very special to him and that without her he couldn't have done it with Cherly confirming that they'll be friends forever.
The final freestyle served as the highlight of his night when in a sassy, saucy display Cody began the dance on a pole. Donning a glittery colorful outfit the fitness guru even did some vogueing with the duo giving a super fun performance alongside backup dancers making the experience even more enjoyable. The judges absolutely loved the dance and went gaga with their reviews. Judge Bruno said that he went from JLo in 'Hustlers' to Miranda in 'The Devil Wears Prada' and said that he was dying. Judge Julianne said that in all seriousness he gave permission for everyone to be themselves with this dance adding that he made her feel alive. Judge Carrie burst out saying that this was the most flamboyant, fierce, and brilliant moves the ballroom has ever seen. Judge Len commented that it was wild, wacky, and wonderful scoring him a 10 along with all the judges. A perfect score of 40 brought his total to 76 out of 80.
The night ended with the hearth thumping result announcement which saw Cody come in third and Amanda Kloots come in last. Fans of the show were annoyed that he didn't come in fourth but tried to look at the bright side saying that at least he didn't win.
