MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were spotted having a cheerful time at the Lakers-Grizzlies playoff game in Los Angeles on Monday, April 24. This was the pair's first public appearance after it emerged that the Duke of Sussex is expected to attend his father King Charles' coronation ceremony solo while the Duchess takes care of their children Prince Archie, on his fourth birthday, the same day as the King's coronation, and one-year-old Princess Lilibet.

Harry and Meghan appeared to be delighted as they were spotted laughing and smiling as they watched the Lakers face off against the Memphis Grizzlies in game four of the NBA playoffs. The rare public outing comes a day after Markle made a surprise appearance in a video, introducing her photographer friend Misan Harriman’s TED Talk.

'Royal rift between Meghan Markle and King Charles'

Amid the buzz surrounding Charles' coronation on May 6, the Duke will be seated 10 rows behind the rest of the royals and make a prompt exit, according to a royal associate. A friend of the Sussex's said Archie's birthday, "played a factor in the couple's decision" and he expected it would be a "fairly quick trip to the UK" for Harry. As for Megan it was recently made known the Duchess was dodging the Coronation after the royal family failed to address "unconscious bias" before moving to the US.

Commonwealth Day has a special significance this year, as 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth, with old ties and new links enabling cooperation towards social, political and economic development which is both inclusive and sustainable. The Commonwealth represents a global network of 53 countries and almost 2.4 billion people, a third of the worlds population, of whom 60 percent are under 30 years old. Each year the Commonwealth adopts a theme upon which the Service is based. This years theme A Connected Commonwealth speaks of the practical value and global engagement made possible as a result of cooperation between the culturally diverse and widely dispersed family of nations, who work together in friendship and goodwill. The Commonwealths governments, institutions and people connect at many levels, including through parliaments and universities. They work together to protect the natural environment and the ocean which connects many Commonwealth nations, shore to shore. Cooperation on trade encourages inclusive economic empowerment for all people - particularly women, youth and marginalised communities. The Commonwealths friendly sporting rivalry encourages people to participate in sport for development and peace.

Meghan allegedly wrote a letter to Charles naming a royal who made a "skin color" comment about their son and accused the monarchy of "unconscious bias" after her explosive Oprah interview in 2021. The Duchess of Sussex's letter was reportedly sent in reply to one from Charles himself. A source told the Daily Telegraph that Meghan would not attend the Coronation because she received an unsatisfactory response from the King.

The press secretary, Ashley Hansen, insisted, "The Duchess of Sussex is going about her life in the present, not thinking about correspondence from two years ago related to conversations from four years ago," as reported by Daily Mail. However, she also added, "Any suggestion otherwise is false and frankly ridiculous. We encourage tabloid media and various royal correspondents to stop the exhausting circus that they alone are creating."

'Where's the kiss cam when we need it!'

Internet users were thrilled to see the giddy couple in good spirits. One user wrote, "Awwww they look amazing and so happy." Another added, "They are so nunus, when you not only love each other but actually like each other." A third stated, "Damn, they look good!" "Tomorrow UK will turning this beautiful moment into something negative," read a tweet. One user simply shared a gif of Harry and Meghan. Another tweeted, "Where's the kiss cam when we need it! Lol.
