'Avengers Endgame' smashed records in 2019. The Marvel mammoth, which was a culmination of a decade worth of storytelling, emerged as the highest-grossing Hollywood film ever, after defeating the likes of James Cameron's 'Avatar' and 'Titanic'. At the Critics Choice Awards 2020, the film won the award for the Best Action Movie. However, there was a rather awkward moment as none of the cast members turned up. They had good reason as it was assumed that Marvel would be pushed aside as it was during the Golden Globes.

Fans were rather perplexed and took to social media to express their feelings.

"There have to be several hundred people in this room. Not one of them was attached to @Avengers Endgame so they could accept the #CriticsChoice award?"

Some fans found it rather hilarious that the cast's names were read out, even though there was no one to receive the award. "Why the heck are the saying all of their names if they knew no one from the cast was in there lmao. Congrats @MarvelStudios @Avengers #AvengersEndgame #CriticsChoiceAwards."

"So avengers endgame won best action movie and the entire cast was supposed to be there but no one went to accept the award LMAOOOOOO," tweeted another fan.

"No one is there from the Avengers cast lol," wrote another fan.

The other nominations in the category included, 'Ford v Ferrari', 'John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum' and 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'. 'Endgame' is also nominated for Best Visual Effects, where it is up against '1917', 'Ad Astra', 'Ford v Ferrari', 'The Irishman', The Lion King and 'The Aeronauts'.

'Avengers Endgame', directed by Anthony and Joseph Russo, had an ensemble cast that included Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland.
