'Crisis on Infinite Earths' reportedly to see Stephen Amell as powerful angel Spectre, only possible hero to rival Anti-Monitor

The Arrowverse has quite a few powerful characters but when they face the Anti-Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) during 'Crisis on Infinite Earths', the heroes are unfortunately going to be quite out of their depth. Sure they've got at least four Kryptonians and multiple speedsters on their side but the Anti-Monitor is an ancient evil being with god-like power and against that sort of enemy, even the heroes of 'Supergirl' and 'The Flash' are going to be sorely outmatched.

Thankfully, it looks like the heroes are going to be getting a certain magical heavyweight in their corner if certain recent reports are to be believed. Speculations are running rife Stephen Amell will be playing the role of the Spectre during 'Crisis', in addition to his lead role as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, and Heroic Hollywood confirmed this is indeed happening.

The Spectre is an ancient mystical being, largely believed to be one of the first angels created by the Judeo-Christian God and the living personification of divine wrath. His power is nearly limitless and the Spectre's only real weakness, and a minor one at that, is that he needs to be tethered to a human host in order to manifest on Earth.

In the comics, the Spectre is the only hero with the power to stand against the Anti-Monitor directly, which gives the other heroes time to put a plan into action that would destroy the Anti-Monitor once and for all. With the Spectre fighting on their side, the Arrowverse heroes may just have a chance at surviving the coming 'Crisis'.

Now that all the Arrowverse shows have started airing their new seasons, the countdown to 'Crisis' has begun. At least one Earth has already fallen to the Anti-Monitor as of 'Arrow' Season 8 Episode 1 and many more are sure to follow if the heroes can't find a way to stem the tide of destruction.

'Crisis on Infinite Earths' begins on Sunday, December 8, on 'Supergirl', runs through a Monday episode of 'Batwoman' and Tuesday’s episode of 'The Flash.' The 'Arrow' tie-in episode will air on January 14 and the story will conclude with an episode of 'DC's Legends of Tomorrow' on the same day.
