The lockdown continues, and many of us are really starting to miss the outdoors. Most of us are also sorely missing the daily lives that we had come to find mundane, and, of course, our loved ones who we've found ourselves separated from. We hear you. This is hard.

And while usually, we might find creative ways to process our feelings, it's pretty hard to do that when you're stuck at home with nothing but your own echo to keep you company.

However, that's where music can help. It can do something no one and nothing else can — it can give a voice to our thoughts and feelings when we, for whatever reason, cannot express them ourselves.

So while you're staying safely tucked away indoors, away from the pandemic that has caused the world to shut down, check out today's Pandemic Playlist dedicated to all the lonely hearts out there. We feel your pain, and we're with you all the way.

The Beatles - 'Yesterday'

"Yesterday / All my troubles seemed so far away / Now it seems as though they're here to stay / Oh, I believe in yesterday"

None of us could have predicted this, but alas, here we are. Life comes at you fast and for many, that meant having to rush through their goodbyes before locking themselves away. 'Yesterday' in all its melancholy glory is a song about parting from a lover and reminiscing about a yesterday when you were still together.

Avril Lavigne - 'When You're Gone'

Being in lockdown is tough for many of us, but especially so for people who aren't quite used to being at home so much. Time flows differently when you're by yourself, day in and day out. And the pain of missing someone can feel far more intense than usual.

"The words I need to hear / To always get me through the day / And make it okay / I miss you"

But sometimes, just admitting that you miss someone and hearing they feel the same can be cathartic. So even if you can't see your loved ones right now, let them know you're thinking of them.

3 Doors Down - 'Here Without You'

"A hundred days have made me older / Since the last time that I saw your pretty face."

It might sound dramatic, but it can sure feel that way when you've been apart for so long. 'Here Without You' was written about a marriage that dissolved and the long, lonely nights the band often experienced while on the road, but it would go on to become an anthem for deployed troops who spent months, and sometimes years away from their loved ones back home.

This track is filled to the brim with lyrics that speak about the pain of not being beside the one person you miss the most right about now. But since we can't quote the entire song, we'll pick the one section that hits the hardest: "I'm here without you baby / But you're still on my lonely mind / I think about you baby and I dream about you all the time."

Bill Withers - 'Ain't No Sunshine'

"Ain't no sunshine when she's gone / And this house just ain't no home / Anytime she goes away"

Withers' breakthrough hit was originally written with the movie 'Days of Wine and Roses' as the inspiration and speaks about how some things, including relationships, can be toxic, almost like an addiction. But like other songs on this list, it would go on to become a song about feeling like the light has left your days when the person you love is not around anymore.

A fun fact about this song is that the iconic third verse, where Withers repeats the phrase "I know" twenty-six times almost didn't make the final cut. But after listening to the advice of fellow musicians, the singer kept that part in, and it is now the one part of the songs that most vocalists put all their emotion into.

Evanescence - 'My Immortal'

"'Cause your presence still lingers here / And it won't leave me alone"

When you have someone be such an intrinsic part of your life, often, without you even realizing it, their presence colors how you see everything around you. Suddenly, every single thing from the whistle of a kettle to the color of your walls reminds you of them.

And that can make this period of isolation either comforting since it feels like they're right there with you or misery-inducing because it is a constant reminder that you're at home alone.

At times like these, it helps to pour those feelings out. And what better way to do that than to belt it out alongside Amy Lee?

We hope you found some peace after releasing some of your painful feelings through song. Tough days abound, but we can get through it all together. Stay strong and keep singing!
