Coronavirus: Bonnaroo Music Festival postponed to September, tickets will be honored for new dates
After the Coachella Music and Arts Festival got postponed and the Glastonbury Music Festival sadly announced that they would be canceling their 50th-anniversary event thanks to the coronavirus outbreak, all eyes turned to the 2020 Bonnaroo Music Festival, wondering what their decision would be. Would the music extravaganza still be taking place in June this year?
In what will be seen as either good or bad news, depending on how patient you are, Bonnaroo recently revealed that they were merely postponing their event to September, in the hopes that the worst of the COVID-19 virus would have dissipated by then.
The four-day festival, which had originally been scheduled to take place from June 11–14 at the 650-acre Great Stage Park in Manchester, Tennessee, has now been delayed until September 24–27, 2020. Some of the main attractions for this year include the Grand Ole Opry show, Lizzo, Tool, Tame Impala, Lana Del Rey, Miley Cyrus, The 1975, Run The Jewels, Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.
An official announcement from the festival organizers read, "Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival will be rescheduled to take place September 24-27, 2020 out of an abundance of caution and for the health and safety of all Bonnaroovians, artists, staff and our community. All current tickets and onsite accommodations (camping, tent rentals, RV, etc.) will be honored for the new weekend. Fans with off-site accommodations and shuttles purchased through the festival will be contacted directly with updates. Rest assured, we will share updates as quickly as possible via email, our website, and on our social accounts."
The organizers also encouraged festival-goers to take care of themselves and each other, especially considering the current state of the world. Over 219,367 coronavirus cases have been reported worldwide, with over 8,970 fatalities so far. "Please continue to radiate positivity through this uncharted time in our world. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you on The Farm this fall," concluded the statement from the festival organizers.
