Paramedics made frantic efforts to revive Coolio for 45 minutes after he was found unconscious in pal's house
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Following the death of Coolio, it has now been claimed that paramedics tried to revive him for 45 minutes before eventually declaring him dead. Emergency services were called after the 'Gangsta's Paradise' rapper was found lying on the bathroom floor of a friend's house in Los Angeles on September 28.
The sudden death of the 59-year-old rapper, whose real name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr, has been met with shock by his fans. There were frantic efforts to revive him, with the EMT crew spending the better part of an hour performing CPR, reports TMZ, but to no avail. The cause of death is yet to be confirmed.

According to Coolio's manager, it is likely he died of a cardiac arrest. The rapper had recently traveled to Vegas in order to sort out an issue regarding his passport. Following this, he was supposed to travel to Germany for a performance scheduled to take place this weekend. Moments before his death, his manager was getting ready to join Coolio, but soon received the call that the star had been found unresponsive on the bathroom floor.
The rapper's former representative at Trinity Artists International, Sheila Finegan expressed her grief. "We are saddened by the loss of our dear friend and client, Coolio, who passed away this afternoon. He touched the world with the gift of his talent and will be missed profoundly," she said, adding, "Thank you to everyone worldwide who has listened to his music and to everyone who has been reaching out regarding his passing. Please have Coolio’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers," as per Metro.
Several stars have condoled his demise. Sharing a picture with the late rapper, Snoop Dogg wrote, "Gangstas paradise. R. I. P. 🙏🏽🌹 🕊 ♿️🚾. @coolio". Remembering Coolio's struggle to achieve fame, 'It Was A Good Day' rapper Ice Cube also wrote, "This is sad news. I witness first hand this man’s grind to the top of the industry. Rest In Peace @Coolio."
'Scarface' actress, Michelle Pfeiffer also took to Instagram to pen a tribute for the late artist. "Heartbroken to hear of the passing of the gifted artist @coolio. A life cut entirely too short. As some of you may know I was lucky enough to work with him on Dangerous Minds in 1995. He won a Grammy for his brilliant song on the soundtrack - which I think was the reason our film saw so much success. I remember him being nothing but gracious. 30 years later I still get chills when I hear the song. Sending love and light to his family. Rest in Power, Artis Leon Ivey Jr. ❤️," read her caption.
Notably, Coolio shot to fame with the iconic, 'Gangsta's Paradise' which featured in the soundtrack of Pfeiffer's 'Dangerous Minds'. The song gained so much attention and acclaim that it went on to become one of the most successful rap songs of all time.
