'The Walking Dead: World Beyond' is the latest addition to the AMC zombie-horror franchise and it was a pity the release date of the much-anticipated series was delayed following the outbreak of the coronavirus. The 10-episode series is based on the comic book installments of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard. Getting right to the point, one of the main reasons behind the anticipation of the show was the fresh perspective it would bring to the franchise.

Come this Comic-Con @ Home 2020, fans will get to know more about the series. The panel set to take place on July 24, Friday, and will see cast members Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Hal Cumpston, Nicholas Cantu, Nico Tortorella, Julia Ormond and Joe Holt along with Gimple and showrunner/executive producer Matt Negrete discuss the series.

To start with, the storyline of 'World Beyond' is set in the future in the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse. For those of us who have been accustomed to watching a battle of survival for seasons now, this comes as a rather unique story. The spin-off will follow two sisters and their friends as they embark on a journey to find a crucial person who happens to be the only hope to save the world. The story treatment is different and this makes for an interesting plotline.

Up next comes the location. The series will start off its story in Nebraska. 'World Beyond' was filmed in Virginia. The main locations include Richmond, Petersburg and Hopewell (via Cinemablend) as opposed to the other series of the franchise that was largely filmed in Georgia. 'Fear the Walking Dead' started the trend of moving across locations that also included Mexico and Canada.

As far as crossovers go, we can safely assume there won't be any happening at least in season one. With 'World Beyond' being a two-season only series, chances are the whole of the first season might look at establishing the storyline. This means there's ample room for character development, showcasing a whole new generation and a new breed of enemies. For the longest time, the series 'The Walking Dead' and 'Fear the Walking Dead' have shown zombie threats and personal human battles as the core of their storylines.

With 'World Beyond' this might be different. The synopsis is an interesting one: "The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world.

"Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest. Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves, and each other. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. But all of them will find the truths they seek."

Essentially, 'World Beyond' is the start of something new. It gives us a chance to see the growth of teens who go on to make choices based on the circumstances. It can be looked at as a coming-of-age drama coupled with some intense action and that's something worth waiting for.

Comic-Con @ Home 2020 is slated between July 22 and 26.
