Comic-Con 2020: Will Hulu and Marvel's shelved 'Adventure Into Fear' series ever see the light of day?

Comic-Con 2020: Ahead of the most exciting event of the year, here's us wondering if there is even a slight chance for Hulu and Marvel's shelved project 'Adventures Into Fear' being rebooted

In 2019, Marvel Television and Hulu had announced the 'Adventure Into Fear' project that aimed at producing original titles for Hulu set in the same universe but portraying standalone stories. Something similar to what Marvel had achieved with Netflix's 'Jessica Jones', 'Daredevil', 'The Punisher', 'Iron Fist', 'Lucas Cage' and the 'Defenders'. What started as a discussion to produce one show -- 'Ghost Rider' -- in a tone similar to Hulu's 'Castlerock' developed into a full-fledged project with multiple projects slated to release as a part of this project.

The first few projects set to premiere as a part of this were 'Ghost Rider' and 'Helstrom'. However, due to an impasse between the creative team of 'Ghost Rider' and Hulu, the project was dropped and since then there has been no word about if it was being shopped by other networks. 'Helstrom' however made it through and was ordered for a 10-episode first season. The show will star Tom Austen as Daimon Helstrom, Sydney Lemmon as Ana Helstrom, and Elizabeth Marvel as Victoria Helstrom among others.

The other titles that were expected to be a part of this project were dropped because Marvel Television division had folded into Marvel Studios with Jeph Loeb working with the team to help the transition. At this time, all television originals were put on hold and the concentration of upcoming projects centered on Disney Plus releases such as 'Hawkeye', 'Wandavision', among others.

With the Marvel Television getting folded into the Studios, titles planned for release by Loeb may never see the light of day. Such titles include 'Moon Knight', 'Ms Marvel' and 'She-Hulk'. Essentially, the era of Marvel Television that debuted with 'Agents of SHIELD' and included the slate of Netflix releases, Hulu's 'Runaways', Freeform's 'Cloak & Dagger' and FX's 'Legion' will die out with the last season of the show currently on air. So 'Adventure into Fear' is a project that fans shouldn't put their hopes on anytime soon, especially 'Ghost Rider' which was dropped by Hulu and Marvel after differences arose.

There are also reports that the project was shelved because Marvel Studios has a different plan for introducing horror into its franchise with ' Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness'. In fact, it is not only the 'Adventure into Fear' project that has been shelved but also the Hulu-Marvel animated event titled 'The Offenders' which was expected to premiere sometime in 2020 also saw two of the shows under the slate get canceled by Kevin Feige in February.

The project was expected to see the release of four animated shows -- 'MODOK', 'Hit-Monkey', 'Tigra, Dazzler', and 'Howard the Duck' -- however, two of them -- 'Tigra, Dazzler' and 'Howard the Duck' were canceled. That leaves only three projects from the initial announcements safe. The projects will not come back in the same shape or form, and even if Marvel were to develop the titles individually, it is not going to be coming to screens anytime soon.
