Comedian Teddy Ray died in apparent drowning, body found in pool by maintenance worker
RANCHO MIRAGE, CALIFORNIA: Comedian Teddy Ray, who passed away on August 12, reportedly died from drowning. The 32-year-old was found floating in a private pool in by a maintenance worker, who reported it to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
According to TMZ, authorities believe that there were no obvious signs of foul play in connection with Ray's death, whose legal name was Theodore Brown. However, it remains unclear whose private pool the comedian drowned in, as Ray lived in Gardena, about 125 miles west of where he was discovered. Sources told TMZ on August 15, that investigators will continue to probe the results of Ray’s autopsy prior to releasing the official cause of death, but mostly, are set to give the cause of death as drowning.

Ray was an all-rounder
Ray, born in Los Angeles on July 30, 1990, was not just restricted to standup. He was a writer and actor on the comedy series 'How to Be Broke' in which he appeared in six episodes between 2017 and 2018. He also appeared in a 2021 episode of 'Cancel Court,' a comedy courtroom show.
As per Yahoo!, Ray's first television appearance was on BET’s ‘Comic View’ followed by shows including ‘Wild N’ Out' and ‘All Def Comedy.' His most recent appearance was in HBO series ‘Pause with Sam Jay.' As per the report, he finished shooting for season two of ‘Scroll Wheel of Time’ before his death.
The 32-year-old comedia, who was known for his viral skits, recently celebrated his birthday on July 30, just two weeks before his death. In his last post on Instagram, he shared that he was grateful. He wrote, “Pulling up on 32 like…..Lord I thank you for another lap around this hot ass sun."
'The kindest and funniest'
After his sudden death news, tributes from fans and co-stars poured in, which included one from ‘Abbott Elementary’ creator Quinta Brunson, who said, "Rest well, Teddy. The kindest and funniest," while comedian Kevin Fredericks added, “Teddy Ray was one of the funniest people to walk this earth."
