Coldplay's Chris Martin hails Rihanna as the 'best singer of all time' ahead of her Super Bowl halftime performance
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chris Martin of Coldplay has nothing but praises for Rihanna as she prepares to perform live for the first time in five years at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show. The 34-year-old 'Umbrella' hitmaker was the subject of a recent interview in which the 'Coldplay' frontman, 45, talked about his adoration for her.
Just one day remains before the 'Diamond' hitmaker takes the stage at the Apple Music-sponsored event that will take place between the second and third quarters of the game. The Super Bowl will be played this year at Glendale's State Farm Stadium in Arizona on Sunday, February 12 at 6.30 pm between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rihanna is 'the best singer of all time'
"I don't know Rihanna very well. I'm mainly just a fan, and we have performed with her a few times, and you're right, it is rarer and rarer for her to just sing, which is what makes it even more special, and in a strange way, it shows that she really, really wants to do it," Martin said on The Zane Lowe Show, as per Daily Mail.
In 2012, Rihanna and 'Coldplay' worked together on the song 'Princess of China' which they performed live at the Grammy Awards. Again, during the band's Mylo Xyloto Tour in London, England, Rihanna made a surprise cameo where they performed an acoustic version of her 2007 single 'Umbrella'. "No one can make Rihanna do anything at this point, and so I think the fact that she has chosen to do it now, when her stock couldn't be ... you have to be an idiot not to recognize that she's the best singer of all time."
When asked about Martin's expectations for Rihanna's halftime performance, he replied immediately that he only had greatness in mind. "So it's hard for me, I'm very biased because I'm such a big Rihanna fan. I mean, I think she could just walk out in sweatpants and sing, and that would be just great."
Rihanna's Super Bowl performance will be 13 minutes long
The pop star, who hasn't toured or released an album since 2016's 'Anti,' confirmed that the show will be 13 minutes long. Rihanna said, "You're just running around for 13 minutes trying to put like a two-hour set for 13 minutes. And you're gonna see on Sunday [February 12] from the time it starts, it just never ends until the very last second. I know I'm saying too much, but it's a jam-packed show," as quoted by Billboard.
Earlier this week, during a press conference for Super Bowl in Phoenix, Rihanna said, "We've been working on it for a while, and every day it just gets closer and closer to the finished product. Today's a really big rehearsal, a really important one, that's going to be crucial for Sunday. It's a lot of preparation. This is the week that – it really is [about] being tested. Everyone, we’re just tightening up everything, everybody’s dialing in, everybody’s tuning up and [it’s] a lot of moving parts," she said about the halftime show and added, "I mean, It’s literally, like, 300 to 400 people breaking the stage down and building it back up and getting it out in eight minutes. It’s incredible. It’s almost impossible," reports Page Six.
