There was a time when TV shows and movies were made for plain entertainment. However, in recent years, we have seen a lot of makers and studios coming out with projects stuffed with political agendas. Yes, the purpose of such titles is to educate viewers about the current scenario in the nation and the geo-political world, but there’s a thin line between educating people and pushing agendas on them. For several months, there have been debates about TV shows going “woke” and showing what the leftists feel about the nation. However, shows like ‘Yellowstone’ and ‘Tokyo Vice’ have defied such critics and racked up huge viewing numbers.

Another show that has managed to create a gap between what critics think about the show and how viewers are engaging with it is Amazon’s ‘The Terminal List’. Starring Chris Pratt in the lead role, the show is all about a Navy SEAL James Reece, who comes home after his crew is ambushed while on a secret mission. Soon, he realizes that things are even worse than he imagined as he starts getting new evidence about what went wrong during the mission. The show opened to scathing reviews from the critics, with some saying that it is “punishingly grim and hopelessly boneheaded”. However, the reaction from the viewers has been really positive and Chris Pratt is having a lot of fun by trolling these “woke” critics.

The ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ star shared an article on his official Instagram account and the headline read, “Chris Pratt’s new Navy thriller ‘The Terminal List’ defies woke critics’ scathing reviews to shoot up rating chart with 1.6 billion streams.” A few moments later, he shared a photo of Dr. Evil from ‘Austin Powers’ franchise and plastered the photo with the number of times viewers have watched the show. For the uninitiated, Nielsen recently reported that the Amazon show took the second position on Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming chart, racking up 1.6 million minutes during the July 4-10 week.

Pratt’s reaction was very well-received on social media who not only congratulated the star for such wild reactions but also appreciated the show. One of the fans wrote, “Thank you for making The Terminal List. It’s incredibly significant at this time. I’ve always enjoyed your acting but I CANNOT tell you how much I respect what you have done with this!” Another user wrote, “@prattprattpratt I'll say this. One hell of a series so far. The Terminal List is one hell of a series. I'll be honest though. I have PTDS. Watching this is a trigger. But well worth it”.

“Not one woke ideology in the movie. It was great,” wrote another one. “Honestly didn't find anything anti-woke about the show at all. Other than it being really good. Media drumming up a non-existent narrative again. Let's not overthink things, it's just a high-quality show, not some anti-woke project,” tweeted another user. “He showed his series was successful despite negative critic reviews. That does not make him right-wing. That just makes you a hater,” wrote another fan.

Pratt was not the only one to slam the critics for scathing reviews. ‘The Terminal List’ creator Jack Carr told Fox News that the show is being slammed because “there’s not this woke stuff that’s shoved into it”. He added, “There’s no ‘woke’ or ‘anti-woke,’ but just because there’s not this ‘woke’ stuff that’s shoved into it, then it’s perceived — by critics, at least — as not promoting their agenda, so they’re going to hate it. We don’t mention right, left, conservative, liberal, none of those things are even mentioned.”
