It seems like all Star-lord of 'Guardian of the Galaxy' wanted was Kevin Bacon, whereas MCU needed a big win

Marvel is soon to begin with a new phase but before that, 'The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special' arrives as the last project of phase 4 of the MCU. Phase 4 has been a rocky experience for both, the creators and the fans. It is a television special written and directed by James Gunn for the streaming service Disney+.

It is intended to be the second Marvel Studios Special Presentation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films and television series of the franchise. The special is produced by Marvel Studios, and follows the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' as they celebrate Christmas and search for a present for their leader Peter Quill. Speaking of Chris Patt's Peter Quill, none other than the legend Kevin Bacon is in this MCU holiday special as shown in the teaser.

What time and date does 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' release?

The special is apparently 40 minutes long and has all of your beloved actors, starting from Chris Pratt (the main character, Peter Quill), Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel,  Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Michael Rooker, and Zoe Saldaña, who reprise their roles as the Guardians from previous MCU media. Kevin Bacon and Maria Bakalova are of course starring in this special. Curious to know what is in the trailer? Don't worry we got you.

The special is set after the events of 'Avengers: Endgame'. Peter Quill and is fellow crewmates, including Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Kraglin (Sean Gunn), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel) hatch a plan to get him in a more festive mood. Specifically, their goal is to head to Earth and find him the best Christmas present ever: a kidnapped and gift-wrapped Kevin Bacon, played by the actual, 'X-Men: First Class' actor.

It seems as if all Marvel wanted for Christmas was a huge win. Nonetheless, this also sets up the audience for the upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3' movie which happens to be in the next phase of the MCU. Apparently, the caretaker of the 'Guardians' and three-time series director James Gunn is also at the helm of this 'Holiday Special.' He’s also previously worked with Bacon on his 2010 hero comedy 'Super.' The bar has been set considerably high for this latest 'Guardians' project, considering Gunn has previously described the special as the “greatest thing” he’s ever made.

Time will tell us how the Special turns out but so far it doesn't look like it would disappoint Marvel fans. However, 'The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special' is scheduled to be released on Disney+ on November 25, 2022, (a month before Christmas) as the conclusion of Phase Four of the MCU.

Until then, you can watch the trailer of 'The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special' below.
