'Chicago Med' Season 5: Fans agree Natalie Manning is being reckless, but say Will Halstead's obsession with her is getting on their nerves

In this week's episode, Natalie administered antibiotics to a patient whose parents did not consent. She could be facing arrest and suspension of her medical license soon.

One week after the 'One Chicago' crossover event and the drama hasn't dialed down on 'Chicago Med'. Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) is being given a light workload having just come back after recovering from head trauma. She knows she is capable of more, but the head of ED doesn't think so. So, she is put in charge of the case of a 2-year-old boy who comes in with a nosebleed. The catch here is that the parents of the kid only believe in using natural medicines.

Throughout the episode, Natalie convinces the parents to go a step further and further, first with blood tests, then a saline drip, then an x-ray. But the parents finally draw a line when Natalie wants to give the kid antibiotics for a suspected case of pneumonia. She disregards the parents' wishes, locks herself in the room with the boy and forcefully administers it to him while his parents scream at her to stop.

Many fans were already tired of Natalie's "holier-than-thou" attitude and did not feel the events of this episode were too far from what she normally does. One fan tweeted, "So does this mean we can FINALLY get rid of Dr. Manning and her irrational emotions and meddling? #chicagomed [sic]." Some fans agree that her medical license should be revoked, or at the very least, get fired but other fans are rising up to support her. One fan shared on Reddit, "People kept doubting her which pushed her to want to prove herself which made her reckless which made others doubt her more and it created a vicious cycle. She's basically in a mindstate of thinking she has to do crazy stuff to prove she is right to stop the naysayers from questioning her judgment without realizing those absurd actions are what makes people question her in the first place."

Dr. Will Halstead's (Nick Gehlfuss) reactions towards Natalie this episode, however, did not go down well with fans. Will has been especially hard on Natalie after her accident -- mainly because he believes she needs to remember something vital about Phillip and her engagement, even though Will could have no idea what it is. Will is so focused on Natalie this episode, that he forgets to call the emergency contact of his patient, who tragically passes away due to a pulmonary embolism before he could get to see his fiancee. One viewer tweeted, "Will annoying ass gets on my nerves, he should've been paying more attention to his patient instead of obsessing over Natalie. #ChicagoMed [sic]."

'Chicago Med' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights.
