It's been a long, eager wait for fans of the band Cheerleader to unveil their latest record. The Philadelphia-based outfit have been taking their time in order to release a worthy successor to their debut album, 'The Sunshine of Your Youth', which was warmly received by both fans and critics in 2015.

The indie-pop group were best known for their hazy, shimmering harmonies which shone like the sun in a cloudy sky, and now some welcome news has just materialized on the horizon - Cheerleader have dropped yet another single from their forthcoming album which is due in February!

They had previously released three singles before this one, 'Flight Tonight', 'Back On Board' and 'Everyone's Wearing Skin'.

As recently as yesterday, Cheerleader announced the release of the focus track and final single, 'Things We Regret', off their latest upcoming album, which is titled 'Almost Forever'.

Their sophomore LP will be released on February 7 via Bright Antenna Records (responsible for bands like The Wombats and Sports Team). Click here to listen to the new single 'Things We Regret' from Cheerleader.

Four years in the making, the band recorded the new album 'Almost Forever' with the renowned producer Chris Coady (of Beach House, Future Islands, Foals fame) in California at Panoramic Studio and Sunset Sound. The end result of their tireless work with the producer was a sonic rebirth and 11 tracks dripping in psychedelic indie-rock that would even make Tame Impala proud.

Interestingly, this new single 'Things We Regret' wasn't even made during their regular band practice sessions. When Cheerleader guitarist and keyboardist Josh Pannepacker stayed behind after rehearsals one day to listen to a few early demos that singer Joe Haller had been working on, the two ended up spending the entire night piecing together a brand-new tune that was destined to become 'Things We Regret'. “When he played me this song it was in its early stages, a verse [and] empty chorus kind of loop,” said Pannepacker. “It felt like a song you would hear on Fleetwood Mac’s album 'Rumors', and I was into it immediately.”

The end result, 'Things We Regret' is a smooth piece of glowing electro-pop that segues right in with the gorgeous vibe of the band’s upcoming second album. 'Almost Forever' will be out on February 7 via Bright Antenna Records. We're definitely planning to pick up a copy and listen to it - if we don't, it just might become one of the things we regret! Stay tuned for a review of the new Cheerleader album by next week!
