'My heart is broken': Carter Ream’s secret daughter fears he might abandon newborn son with Paris Hilton
MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: Paris Hilton’s husband and the father of her newborn, Carter Reum shares another child with his ex Laura Belizzi whom he abandoned in the delivery room and has had no contact with since the day the child was born. The multi-millionaire was allegedly present during the birth of his first daughter Evie but he soon left and never returned.
A source close to Evie's mom, Belizzi, told the DailyMail: "Within minutes of her arrival, he held her, kissed her on the forehead, handed her back to her mother, and left. Evie has not seen nor heard from Carter since." The now 10-year-old fears that the same might happen to Hilton and Reum’s son who was born via surrogacy in late January 2023. The hotel heiress, 41, announced that she and Reum welcomed their first child together to People on January 24. In the statement, she confirmed that the couple is "excited" to start a family together and their "hearts are exploding" for their son, whose name is still not revealed.

Who is Laura Belizzi?
Reum’s 'secret' daughter with Bellizzi was revealed only a few days after his marriage to Hilton in Bel Air in November 2021. The couple had briefly dated in 2011. Towards the end of their relationship, Bellizzi, 46, discovered that she was pregnant. At the time, there were speculations that the baby was fathered by Mel Gibson, who Bellizzi also dated for a short time, however, both sides have denied the claims. Currently, the shocking news had young Evie wondering if her estranged father would reject her brother the same way he did her and if she would ever get to meet either of them.
While Reum does pay child support for his daughter, the little girl’s way of living is “not even close” to her father. Reum, the co-founder of investment company M13 and the liquor brand VEEV Spirits, is worth an estimated $ 40 million. His wife Hilton's net worth is an estimated $300 million. “He buys fancy trips and diamonds for his wife and a million-dollar nursery for his newborn,” the source said, comparing the different lifestyles Reum and his daughter Evie lead. But for all their estimated wealth, Reum has offered his daughter nothing, said the source to the outlet.
"Carter has never once acknowledged Evie or given her so much as a birthday card or a Christmas present," the source said. "He has never given her even one gift. Evie doesn't really care," the source claimed. "She just wants a relationship with him."
Evie's open letter to Carter Reum
Evie has grown desperate to meet her father following his wedding. So much so that she even offered him a 'chance" to reconcile and asked if she could be part of his life in a touching open letter, according to the DailyMail. The young girl wrote: "Dear dad, how are you? I would just like to say a few things I would really like it if we could actually have a relationship and I would like to give you a second chance even though you have hurt me so much. I would also like to meet the rest of my family. I still have hurt and anger to work through, but I'm trying to set it aside. Because if you choose to respond to me I will be so happy. If you don't, my heart will still be broken, but I know you will really be missing out because I'm awesome." She concluded the letter by adding, "I love you, Evie."
However, Reum never replied. "The internationally published open letter she wrote to him last year, with the help of her therapeutic team, went unanswered," the source stated. The source further points out everyone involved in Evie’s abandonment which includes Reum’s “supposedly tight-knit family” along with him and his wife Hilton. “Thus, all "their" hands are dirty in Evie's abandonment," they told the DailyMail. "It speaks volumes to the overall character of both Paris and Carter's elitist and affluent families. Shame on them for hurting an innocent child."
'She feels more sorry for them'
Despite such treatment, Evie is a strong girl who remains optimistic while living a "regular, modest life," according to the source. "She sees it squarely as 'their' loss because she knows she's an 'awesome' kid with a big heart," the source said. "She is a remarkable child filled with empathy."
While taking a dig at Hilton and her extravagant lifestyle, the source continued: "Instead of buying designer doggies and handbags, she (Evie) volunteers her time working with animal rescue organizations, because she loves any opportunity to interact with animals. And while she hasn't given up hope that her father will come around, she is keen to heal through helping other kids like herself deal with the ambiguous grief absentee parents (like Carter) inflict upon their children. Despite the comparable global level of rejection, she is experiencing at the hands of her own father and stepmother, she is strong, brilliant, and empathetic." The source added: "She feels more sorry for them than she does herself. Because they are 'missing something inside their hearts. And as a consequence, they are missing out on one of the most important things in life, something all their trust fund-leveraged millions cannot buy: a relationship with her."
