MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: Paris Hilton hit back at her mother's claims that she was apparently struggling to conceive months before welcoming her first child with her husband Carter Reum. The socialite, 41, announced Tuesday, January 24, that she and her author husband, also 41, had welcomed a child via surrogate.

Paris uploaded a photo on Instagram of her manicured fingers around her newborn's little hand. The announcement came two months after she refuted claims by her mother Kathy Hilton that they had struggled to conceive a baby together.

'Never been a struggle'

"I don’t know where she got that - it’s never been a struggle at all," Paris told TMZ on November 16, insisting that she and her husband had been "stocking up" and had "tons of embryos that have all just been waiting" for IVF. The couple, who tied the knot in November 2021, has been candid about their journey to conceive via IVF. Paris offered the first glimpse of her child on Tuesday, posting a photo on Instagram with the caption, "You are already loved beyond words," along with a blue heart emoticon suggesting it's a baby boy.

In an interview with E! News in November, 63-year-old Kathy spoke of her daughter's apparent struggle to get pregnant. She said it broke "her heart" that Paris hadn't fulfilled her dream of becoming a mother as yet. "t breaks my heart because I know she is trying and trying and I always say, 'Just relax.' So many people, they struggle and it doesn't just happen like that," she said at the time. "They are so happy," she added of the couple. "They had their one-year anniversary at the carnival and they want to do that annually. They were like two kids, it was really sweet."

Paris revealed in January last year that she wished to have "probably two or three" children with Carter. Speaking to E! News Daily Pop, the reality star said she "cannot wait" to be a mother. "That is definitely one of my top priorities," she gushed. The 'Nine Lives' actress also said she "would want twins first - or I don't know, it's hard to say." She continued, "Like I always wish I had an older brother, 'cause I feel like if I did they would protect me and things like that...in school. So maybe a boy first."

Furthermore, the TV personality revealed back in January 2021, even before Carter had proposed to her, that she had begun the process of in vitro fertilization with him. "We have been doing IVF, so I can pick twins if I like," she divulged during an appearance on the Trend Reporter With Mara podcast. "I've already undergone the egg extraction procedure. It was tough, but I knew it would be worth it. I did it a couple of times." She said they had already been "planning our babies' names and all of that," adding, "Just doing it together and having a partner that is just so supportive and always makes me feel just like a princess all the time...that it wasn't that bad."

Paris and Carter took the holy vows last November in a luxurious ceremony at her late grandfather's Bel-Air estate. Marking their one-year anniversary on Friday, January 20, she shared a sweet message on Instagram. "This past year with you as husband and wife has been a magical whirlwind," she wrote. "No matter how far we travel and no matter where in the world we are, as long as we are together, I’m at home with you. I deeply cherish all of our adventures and memories and look forward to a lifetime more by your side. Thank you for all of the love, happiness, and endless laughter. You are my rock and I’m so thankful to call you mine." Paris added, "Carter, as my partner in life, number one hype man, and best friend, I love you so incredibly much. Cheers to being your wifey for lifey, and to our one-year anniversary together. My 11:11 wishes finally came true with you."
