Carrie Underwood just scooped the Entertainer of the Year award along with Thomas Rhett at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards 2020 and in another good news, her brand new album is all set to hit the Internet very soon. Looks like someone is having an amazing year. The American singer-songwriter, who rose to fame after winning the fourth season of ‘American Idol’ in 2005, had announced the album on July 20 with the album trailer on her official Twitter account.

She stated, “I realize we’re in the middle of a summer heatwave, but I couldn’t wait to tell you….at long last, my very first Christmas album #MyGift is coming September 25!  So much love has gone into this and I cannot wait to share it with you!”

The new Christmas album is a follow-up to her 2018 album titled ‘Cry Pretty’ which also got a tremendous response on the charts.

Release date

‘My Gift’ will be Underwood’s seventh studio album and also her first Christmas album. The new project will hit the Internet on Friday, September 25, through Capitol Records Nashville. The album is produced by Greg Wells.

Concept

‘My Gift’ will keep the fans hooked with a mix of traditional Christmas songs celebrating her faith and the spiritual nature of the holiday, along with a few other original tracks. Underwood had also shared a covert art for the album where the 37-year-old crooner can be seen wearing a gorgeous red outfit with a snowy background. Talking about the concept of her new work, the ‘Before He Cheats’ hitmaker explained in the trailer video that the inspiration behind the album title came from the song ‘Little Drummer Boy,’ whom Underwood has a deep connection with.

Underwood shared, “There can’t be a better time to make an album like this. I always wanted to make a Christmas album but it is something that has to be well thought-off. I started thinking about the songs and one of my favorites from the album is ‘Little Drummer Boy’ because the sentiment behind it is very honest. For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this. Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times, and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters.”

Tracklist

Underwood’s new project will come with 11 tracks and will feature guest verses from John Legend and her oldest son, Isaiah. Underwood had announced the full tracklist in August this year. Songs like ‘Let There Be Peace’ and ‘O Holy Night’ were released earlier with an intention to promote the album. This is how the full tracklist of ‘My Gift’ looks like:

‘Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee’
