Theory of A Deadman's 'Say Nothing' will drop tomorrow and here's all you need to know about the album
Canadian rock band 'Theory Of A Deadman' (aka Theory or TOAD) are well known in the mainstream rock scene for their constantly evolving, maturing sound. Once content to churn out melodic chuggers that talked about relationships, aspirations, and getting by in life, they have steadily expanded their sonic repertoire in more recent years. Tired of writing conventional rock songs in the Nickelback vein, the band decided to incorporate a decidedly more pop sound in their last album, 2017's 'Wake Up Call'.
And even their songwriting has matured a great deal too. Their most recent songs have taken on a more socially-aware direction, referencing hot topics such as substance abuse, as heard on their smash hit 'Rx (Medicate)' off the 'Wake Up Call' album. And now the band, who prefer to be known as "Theory" these days, have announced that their latest album, 'Say Nothing' will be releasing at the end of January. Talking about the new album, vocalist/guitarist Tyler Connolly was quoted as saying that "this one was about what's going on in the world, the state of American politics, and everything else. It was a completely different way of writing for us."
Here's all you need to know about 'Say Nothing'
When is it releasing?
Their seventh LP, titled 'Say Nothing' will officially drop this Friday, January 31. The announcement of the upcoming album's release date was accompanied by a music video for the first single off the album called 'History of Violence'.
Who will be on it?
The four members of 'Theory' will be on this album - frontman Tyler Connolly, guitarist Dave Brenner, bassist Dean Back and the drummer Joey Dandeneau. We also know that the Swedish producer, Martin Terefe, who worked with them on their previous album, 'Wake Up Call' has produced this album as well.
What was done before this?
'Theory' have released six studio albums prior to this one:
'Theory of a Deadman' (2002)
'Gasoline' (2005)
'Scars & Souvenirs' (2008)
'The Truth Is...' (2011)
'Savages' (2014)
'Wake Up Call' (2017)
How will it sound?
We've already received four socio-politically aware songs off the new album, namely the weighty singles 'History of Violence' (about domestic abuse), 'Strangers' (about politics), 'Say Nothing' (about non-communication) and 'World Keeps Spinning' (about hopelessness). Since the band is known for constantly seeking new sonic territory and reportedly took inspiration from The Beatles' album 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', we can expect to hear something completely new and epic (like choirs and brass instruments) on this new album, yet it will still be rooted in the familiar elements of their alt-rock, post-grunge sound.
Where can I listen to it?
You can pre-order and listen to the album off their official site here. The complete record will also be made available on conventional streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, etc by January 31.
