Johnny Depp has won the defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard and now the matter finally rests. After weeks of continuous screening and scrutiny, the jury found both the parties guilty of defaming but found Depp worthy for $15 million and Heard $2 million. While many people wished for Depp to win this case, what exactly was it that gave him the leading edge? If you noticed, then he was sitting throughout the trial poised and calm. That's because his legal team, Ben Chew and Camille Vasquez, had prepared an airtight plan.

Former California Judge Halim Dhanidina explained that it was majorly Amber Heard herself who hurt her testimony. The case was solely relying on her credibility which had none left by the end of the trial. Dhanidina said, "The case was going to rise and fall on her credibility more than any nuanced legal question. And she just did not make it through the trial with her credibility intact, The fact that she emerged from cross-examination, in essence, defeated without any remaining credibility — that was the lynchpin in the case for me."

Halim Dhanidina is also a current Los Angeles criminal law defense attorney and claimed that the jurors figured out that the actress was lying. According to Dhanidina, the jury thought "She was lying about [Depp] on purpose because she had a bone to pick with him. And that, to me, is the takeaway on this trial." Backing these claims was Mitra Ahouraian, a Beverly Hills entertainment attorney. She said, "The jury found her to be either inauthentic, overacting or not deserving of empathy. A lot of Heard’s emotional cues on the witness stand didn’t line up with her testimony. She would get very impassioned at weird times or make awkward attempts to connect with the jury by speaking to them directly," she said. So what was it about Johnny's legal team, especially Camille Vasquez that threw Amber Heard off her game and helped Johnny bag this?

How did Camille Vasquez help?

It's no doubt that Vasquez has become a star on her own, thanks to this high-profile case. Her chemistry with Johnny Depp was praised and her overall intellect is something to look out for. However, it was her in-court vigilance that saved Depp. Ahouraian said, "She also was caught in far too many inconsistencies, making it hard to know which parts to believe and which parts to disbelieve. Even if there was some truth to her statements, her own testimony, and her own words documented in audio recordings, hurt her more than anything in this trial. Depp’s lawyers did an incredible job of highlighting this."

Camille Vasquez, as seen in several clips, was not afraid to object to almost everything that Amber Heard or her legal team said. She knew this was a psychological trick that seemed to work. Now, her fact verification was epic because she hardly presented any vague evidence which could not stand up in court. On top of that, witness selection. Vasquez, along with Chew did an impeccable job of finding the appropriate clients. This brings us to Kate Moss. Texas civil attorney Katherine Lizardo explained that Kate Moss' testimony, Johnny's ex-girlfriend, was a nail in the coffin.

Vasquez understood the assignment and blew away Heard's credibility. She did not shy away from calling Heard a liar in front of the whole world and reminded the jury in her closing statement that Heard had malice while drafting the 2018 op-ed. She attacked the heart of the case and managed to blow Amber into bits and pieces with questions related to James Franco, Cara Delevigne, Elon Musk, etc.
